Ooo I'm so bored with having MS

Hi Everyone
I've never been in a chat room so not sure what I'm doing. Just having a bad day when everything is up hill. Numb hands stopped me wearing what I wanted to wear. Some kids I teach were doing impressions of me in the playground dragging their legs behind them and then my boss yelled at me for not being up to the job. Everyone at work is bored with my MS - get the feeling they think I'm making it up half the time. Lots of people have it worse and I don't mean to moan but I'm just fed up of being perky and cheerful.
Today everything is so hard, I would just like a day off from feeling pants all the time. Any way groan over-
thanks

Default Welcome!

Welcome to Neurotalk! This is a great community here. You will find that there are many people here who are going through the same frustrations you are. I am new to this community as well. I don't participate that much yet, but I do read comments that others share. There are many people here who are very knowledgable about their nuerological conditions.

I have CIDP, which is a peripheral neuropathy. I suffer from weakness in my arms and legs and extreme fatigue. I saw your post and I can really relate to your comments. It gets really tiresome after awhile trying to deal with the everyday inconveniences of a chronic illness. I am 35 and I found out that I had some sort of neurological illness about 2 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter. I received a final diagnosis after I had the baby.

My physical limitations drive me crazy now. This is the time in my life when I need my strength and energy the most and I can barely get around the corner to do the grocery shopping. I find the doctors and social workers extremely frustrating too. There full of lousy advise. When I try to discuss alternatives to help me with strength building and increasing energy, they always say "pace yourself." Who can pace themselves? Especially with a very active 1 year old.

I'm sure it is very frustrating for you at work with kids. Kids are active. You need to be energetic to hold their attention all day and the healthy adults around never seem to understand fully what struggles you face.

I usually go to the peripheral neuropathy forum, but you may want to try the MS forum. I'm sure there are many people with there with helpful advice regarding MS specifically. These forums are great if you need to talk to someone who can relate to your experiences.

Welcome!

Hello jostarsurfer and to NeuroTalk.

You don't have to be perky and cheerful. This disease can make you feel lousy and it can be difficult somedays more than others.

Have you thought about educating those kids? Maybe talk to them about MS and why you walk like you do. It's a shame the parents have not taught them about disabilities.
