I also had a big bowl of ice-cream to celebrate being able to open the fridge/freezer again.
I missed the internet as much as the fan... ... I am always plugged in.

Waves,
Very glad that you are back and got to have your ice cream.
That stuff is so disorientating to me. I do what I can to stay out of panic mode.
. . . . the failure in the expectation of being connected to the civilized parts of society (freezer, internet, fan) . . . . that makes me feel lost/ abandoned/ disconnected/all but fearful.
Either way I would feel inconvenienced, but being told a head of time would help me feel that the word I depend upon will be back . . . .it is just not available to me at the moment. Thus I can be patient instead of a freakout.

Years ago -- the first night in a brand new appt with a roommate --
the t.v. announced a "boil water alert" in our new neighborhood due to a mess up in local pumping station, , , . . .(whatever).
I did not see myself "BOILING" water (

) so I drove to a late night convenience store to buy a car-full of diet soda, club soda, orange juice, --- whatever liquid the store had.
My roommate thought I was nuts to go out in the late-ish evening for something that would be settled by the a.m. BUT what if I wanted more water than we already had in the place?
(Maybe I am revealing how whiny I am.)
