I think the "x-ray-like" image is a normal thing when you look at a light or close your eyes quickly, but I dont think the gold sparklies are supposed to be normal.
When I told my opthalmologist about seeing the gold sparklies once when I'm in a dark room with my eyes wide open, or seeing them when I close my eyes, he gave me this weird look, and told me to tell him if it ever got worse. I'm guessing that it's not supposed to do that.
Yay for me that the sparklies havent bothered me since last summer.
