I assume they give written instructions when they release him??
that would be a good thing to get a clear answer on before you leave and also exactly what is OK and not OK to do.
but i think in general some movement is OK but if it does cause discomfort rest a bit more before trying it - then try a little - nothing extreme -just smooth easy motions to allow blood and fluids to move and refresh etc
but that just my general thoughts.
