Hello Angela,

You owe it to yourself to ask questions of your doctors. Sometimes I don't know what to ask but when I have a question about their abiliy I ask. Ask you Chiro what she knows or understands about RSD/CRPS. She may know a little but if she is using her hands and massageing and adjusting it can create more long lasting pain.

My chiro. is a an activator and hand manipulation docotor. Once he deteremined my problem was RSD he went from hand manipuation to his activator. The activator is a small spring loaded instrument. He finds what needs manipulated places the activator over it and releases the spring. We have a joke between us. On the days I'm more sore than other from my pain I will ask him to remove the sharpe end of the activator. Which is code for him to adjust the amount of pressure it will apply when he activates it on my spine, knees, ankles or anywhere that needs adjusted.
If you want to continue with the Chiropactor ask her can she do activator adjustments or refer you to someone who can. If she can't research it on the computer and find someone in your area.
I will have some pain from time to time that doesn't go away quickly. It's common to have pain with an adjustment even if you don't have RSD. It depends how badly you were out of alignment.
I know some on here won't agree with me, however, I use ice on my RSD.
I have hot RSD. When it is flaired and I have an adjustment ice packs help settle the extra inflamation from the adjustment added to the RSD. I haven't made my RSD worse over the last 9 years that I have been doing this.
I've asked my Chiro. to come up with a suit made of ice so I can cover my whole body when it burns he laughs and tells me to go to the Y and get in the cool pool. The cool water does help me.
I hope I've helped and not just rambled on. Chiro. works for me I was lucky and found a doctor who knows RSD. DO's have some traning while in college on adjustments and some think they can replace a CD. My family doctor who is a DO is a believer of CD's from seeing how it has helped me over the years. Both doctors have been with me from the beginning.
All fields have experts a chiropractor is an expert of the nervous system not to be replaced by a neuro doctor (I found a good one in that filed).
I hope you find relief sooooon!!!,
Sherrie

Take care,
Sherrie
