I could have written the original post myself. If my neuro said I was "giving up" when it is physically impossible to do something, that person is in the wrong field. Unless I was in the back woods somewhere where it was impossible to find another doc, I would find another. This doctor seems to not understand that some people have progressed to the point of not being able to lift their leg. I would think this would be taught in the first year of their medical training. This doctor is also lacking in empathy, a skill that everyone in the hospital that I worked for had to attend, including secretaries, kitchen help - everyone - so staff could somewhat relate to and understand patients. I also don't think that Kittylady literally meant that she wanted to crawl in a hole - just venting her frustration at the circumstances. It sounds like she is trying everything she can to help herself!
For those of you who can still work, I am glad for you, and I hope you can continue. I also worked in a very high stress job, including night meetings, two children, and keeping a large house clean and in running order, until I progressed to the point of, unfortunately, not being able to work.
I personally couldn't stand a doc being condesending to me, would find another, and let them know why I did.
