Thumbs up

Remember...Neuros can't crawl in your skin or your brain, so you have to tell them. If they don't listen, then find one who does. Just did it here...after alot of thought, I decided that I am a unique person & if a doctor can't understand that I may have unique symptoms...then he's in the wrong field & I need to find a different flavor doc.

There! I feel so much better now.

My best friend just told me that I need to quit trying to solve everyone's problems. But how will people know how to solve their problems if I don't give my input?

Just did that myself...and boy, oh boy, did that feel good. Well, the replacing the doctor part...not the burying the body bit

Your friend is partially right...it takes alot of energy to do that...but, it also keeps your mind sharp, it keeps your brain working & endorphins, endorphins, endorphins...PLUS it keeps your empathy in tune. All in all...not a bad thing at all!

Tongue doctors!!!

I sware my neuro thinks Im making stuff up sometimes. He gives me this look like, yeah right, and he prescribes me the minimum amount of a medication. Including prednizone even though Im going through a major flare up, at least as far as Im concerned. ON, Vertigo, and can barely walk. UGH Doctors!

I could have written the original post myself. If my neuro said I was "giving up" when it is physically impossible to do something, that person is in the wrong field. Unless I was in the back woods somewhere where it was impossible to find another doc, I would find another. This doctor seems to not understand that some people have progressed to the point of not being able to lift their leg. I would think this would be taught in the first year of their medical training. This doctor is also lacking in empathy, a skill that everyone in the hospital that I worked for had to attend, including secretaries, kitchen help - everyone - so staff could somewhat relate to and understand patients. I also don't think that Kittylady literally meant that she wanted to crawl in a hole - just venting her frustration at the circumstances. It sounds like she is trying everything she can to help herself!

For those of you who can still work, I am glad for you, and I hope you can continue. I also worked in a very high stress job, including night meetings, two children, and keeping a large house clean and in running order, until I progressed to the point of, unfortunately, not being able to work.

I personally couldn't stand a doc being condesending to me, would find another, and let them know why I did.

After getting up and moving around a few hours, Im ready to go back to bed and I can sleep for hours. Anybody relate?? Well, he told me thats not fatigue, its just sleepiness. Im like WTH!!! Everything inside this 5'2 frame of mine is kiiling me! Aches, pains, muslce spasms, oh, ya'll know what Im talking about. Im just a BIT ANGRY at him right now. Maybe I just didnt explain how Im feeling right and he misunderstood me. Also, I have right sided weakness and he tests my strength every time I go in. Well, this last time, he wanted me to pull my arm away from him as he pulled it towards him. I did my best and he just shook his head and said "Try". WTH did he think I was doing?! I cant pick up my right leg in a seated position more than like an inch off the ground if that much, so he said "Pick up your leg and while Im pushing down, you fight back and keep it lifted." Well, I did what he said and as soon as he put pressure on my leg it hit the floor. He looked at me and said "Your just giving up." He did it again and lifted my leg up and bent my foot up (I have foot drop) and it caused so much pain. I was ready to deck him. My spasticity is making me very stiff and I told him that. My right foot no longer wants to bend, it stays at almost a perfect point anymore. Im tired of all this MS pain. If I was truely giving up, I wouldnt go back to him, I would quit all my meds and just lay in bed and let nature take over. But NO! Im taking my meds, exercising as best I can and stretching and yada yada. Thinking about making a hole and crawling in for awhile
Gosh that makes me so about your doc, I really think you should gather up your medical records thus far from him and see someone new! Find a reputable neuro or do some research for a one in your area that's top rated and will take better care of you.

Default Hi Kitty Lady

I know you are not giving up. I have other issues, but i do go to a phyasiatrist. Best move I ever did. I think my PN or rsd is better. worth a try to seek out this kind of specialist. ginnie

I'm so sorry your neuro made you feel that way. It's so upsetting to feel so crappy and be in pain all the time and then someone says you're giving up.

Judy gave some great suggestions and it may help you feel better and help your doctor understand what you are going through.
