Gosh, that must feel awful. Sorry you're going through that.

Sounds as if the cream was too strong and/or you've had some sort of allergic reaction to it. I don't know that I'd be putting too much else on it.

It's a pity you can't get in to see the doctor again sooner than that. If all else fails, how about going to the chemist/pharmacy. That's what I'd be doing if I had reaction like that.

I'm sorry I can't help you really. Hopefully someone will come along soon who knows more about this. I don't know anything about that cream you were prescribed. I'd probably be using something really mild like aloe vera, but I don't want to recommend anything in case you have reaction to that as well.

Edited to add: I guess I'd be worried about the blisters bursting and bacteria.
No way you can get in to see the doctor or at least talk to a Nurse before xmas eve???

I would see this as a rather urgent matter

downfall24,

for many skin issues, dry feet, chapped skin on hands & lips during our cold winter times, major irritation around the nose during a cold, sunburns, etc... i will use castor oil with amazing results... i use it regularly... it's thick but will penetrate the skin quite fast, smells and tastes good (almost like sunflower seed oil)

it can be used for massage of the joints, it is anti-inflammatory... and is quite cheap too

this oil is amazing and i think it would deserve a thread of its own...

i hope this suggestion helps and i wish you have a great winter SOLstice !

Lightbulb where do you live?

Are you exposed to alot of sun daily?

Clear blisters with fluid in them can be a photosensitivity reaction. This can occur if you are using any RX drugs for other reasons.

They can also be fungal, or viral, or allergic.

Viral blisters are activated by the sun.

Do you have rashes anywhere else? How is your general health?

I would try using an oral OTC antihistamine like Benadryl or Zyrtec (not Claritin) and see if it gets better. If it does, then it may be allergic. I see in your profile you are an animal researcher.

Stop the metronidazole for now until you see your doctor.

Possible allergic culprits include feather pillows, or residues of soap and/or fabric softener left on your pillow cases. So double rinse your pillow cases, and don't use fabric softeners for a while.

Allergic eczemas may appear on the face, due to foods as well.
You may have to have testing in the future to see if that is the problem.
Do you have contact with various animals?

i live in british columbia, lots of rain and snow at the moment. but i had these annoying bumps befor and went away but it came back like 2 days after and is 10x worse. the rash is around the sides of my nose to my mouth and under my chin. my over all health i would think would be pretty good. i know im alergic to alot of new things. i get hives from heat but they go away in 5 minutes. i was using that cream for about a month, 2 times a day and all sudden broke out in tiny blisters and seriusly dry skin. i couldnt smile or laugh because it would make it hurt more n make it alot redder. my rash isnt spreding around and its exactly where i put that cream so i think it might be allergic or to strong cause the rash i had under it was quite sensitive. would moisturizing be a good idea? im around 2 dogs and a cat for now. i dont think im allergic to them. i am extremely allergic to feathers. thank you also for suggesting the oil, im going to look it up and see if i can use it =). i just dont want it to make my underneath rash worse cause ive had it for 7 years and no one knows what it is and how to get rid of it.

Lightbulb some people low in in certain vitamins...zinc

There is a vitamin made for people with rosacea called
Nicomide. It can clear some people up without the use
of metronidazole topical products.

http://www.drugs.com/pdr/nicotinamide.html

This product is RX only--you can ask for it and try it since you
have had longstanding issues.

The ingredients are available separately without RX.

The zinc and folic acid are the most important IMO.

People with chronic skin problems also benefit from this
product:
http://www.evitamins.com/product.asp?pid=683

Many hard to treat rashes are connected to deficiencies in essential fatty acids. Poor intake of omega-3 impact the skin
since these essential nutrients make up the skin.
Flax oil is the best for hair/skin maintenance. You might try
using 2 flax oils a day as well..take with food.

Putting castor oil on the skin, provides some fatty acids, but
I like evening primrose better. The GLA in it is better. Many cosmetics today have GLA added to improve skin integrity.
http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/g...nic-000305.htm
Evening primrose 500mg a day orally, with 2 flax may really help heal your skin. You can also open the Evening Primrose and rub it into clean skin to accelerate the process.

I'd be careful what you wash with. I'd use a very hypoallergenic soap. Dove unscented is good and mild, and does not dry too much.

Perhaps see a Dermotologist as it could even be a form of dermatitis. How unlucky you are to get them on your face
In my experience the more I try to treat certain skin complaint with creams, lotions and potions in the cupboard just make them worse. Try to limit usage for now until your see the doctor. Try warm water and salt to keep clean and pat dry.

Hope you get this sorted
