Bill would assist people who care for spouses
Bill was unanimously passed on Wednesday

An East Peoria couple dealing with some financial challenges may soon get some help from the government.

We recently told you how Kathi Kupferschmid was the full-time care giver for her husband Dennis who has Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or ALS.

State Senator Dave Koehler is sponsoring a bill that would allow spouses like Kupferschmid to be paid by the government to care for their husband or wife.

A Senate committee unanimously pushed the bill forward Wednesday.

Senator Koehler says the Senate should vote on it soon.
