I am new to this forum and am hoping for lots of information. Has anyone had a brain bleed in the front right lobe? My husband had his surgery 12/11/09 and is still recovering however his therapist does not feel that his recovery will allow him to become a part of our family again or be able to return to his work. He has been in therapy - physical, speech, and occupational since February. Our insurance is running out soon so the therapy will be ending. Short term memory is slowly coming back. Mostly he is experiencing confusion due to the meds they have him on and the brain bleed.

Have you got a second opinion on this? Maybe he doesn't need some of the drugs, or there are others available that might lessen the side effects while addressing the issues.
Is he at home? If so, you need to take care of yourself too. I know that is easier said than done, but critically important!

SuzyQ - I understand where you are - sorta/kinda - my husband had 2 ruptured aneurysms (front left side) and emergency clipping and craniotomy (spelling) December 11, 2009. He was in ICU for 2 weeks and got to come home right before Christmas. He had to go back in February to have bone flap replaced.
Thankfully, he is recovering well, but will be a long time before he is totally back to 'normal' - if ever. The doctors are amazed he has done as well as he has. He still has extreme fatigue, s/t memory problems, confusion during stress, tired, etc. , headaches, pressure.......you know, lots of small things.
He has not been able to go back to work and no work in site. They dont know if he will ever recover enough for work. Needless to say, being the total breadwinner of the family now has made quite a change in our lifestyle (budget). Plus trying to work 2 jobs to keep us going and help take care of him at the same time has been very stressful for me too. I am just taking it one day at a time and we are doing the best we can. I am very, very thankful that he has recovered as much as he has and we are praying for continued recovery.
I realize this is a very long post (and apologize for that) - but I want you to know that even though our situations are different, they are also similiar. I will keep you and your husband in my prayers and hope things get better for him (and you).

Thank you for your kind wishes and support. I am hoping that we found the right med combination now. Mood swings are more minimual but now I have to find how I can help him with his cognitive challenges. Anyone have suggestions? He really likes solatire (computer games) and word searches.
