Dear All ,
I found this great forum and I am reaching out for your help. Long story short: My mom was given a medicine for high blood pressure and spent 4 days sleeping home before the MRI discovered one ruptured and one about to rupture aneurysms in her brain.Followed a first surgery after which she was amazingly active ,speaking and moving +full memory. The next day in the evening she's been up for the second surgery after the doctors discovered another bleeding. It's been the 4th day after this surgery and they keep her in medicated comma ,the scull is opened for drainage and straight feeding with blood plasm. The doctors are not really talkative and willing to explain us much.So far the only answer we get is "It depends only on her !" The brain is a lot swallowed and there is no change for the past 4 days.Just last night it's been detected small self breathing ,because she's been on full breathing support by machine. Is there anyone with a similar story to tell ,advice to give or more information. I even have MRI records if there are specialists here willing to look at it and help me in this really tough time for me and my family. Thank you very much I'll appreciate any response and information. ![]() |

Unfortunately I don't have the information that you seek Faith, but I wanted you to know that I'm thinking about you and your mother. I can only begin to imagine the anguish you and your family must be going through as you wait for her to wake up.
I do wish her well, and in the meantime I hope that somebody else will soon be along; some-one who can answer your questions for you. ![]()

Hi Faith
I am so sorry that you and your mum are having to go through this. It must be very scary for you and your family. I don't have any medical knowledge, so I can't comment about your mum's progress, What I do know, is that the brain is very mysterious and heals very slowly. Sometimes, when areas are blocked or messages are unable to get through, the brain will 're-wire' itself and find alternative pathways to recovery. Your mum's brain will most likely take quite some time to 're-absorb' the blood that has seeped into it. I don't want to ramble, so I won't go on and on, but don't lose hope - the body and the brain are incredible things. Make sure that you keep talking to your mum even if she is in a coma. I think that it is a really good sign that she is breathing somewhat independently - but as I said, I am not a doctor. Please keep us posted - my thoughts prayers and best wishes are for you and your family. Lyn |

Thank you for the kind responses
![]() We're counting on that that it takes time to re-absorb and that she is a very strong woman overall and she'll be willing to take fast control I am more than sure of it.She can have all the time she needs . The doctors are really not too friendly and willing to chat with the families in that ICU .We hardly get them to speak ,they are very busy. I can't blame them it just leaves us in the middle of nowhere and confused. Today she has a really high temperature and she's been covered with ice cube packs . Again we got scared a lot and we don't know how and is it normal at all?! Still praying everyday and having full faith that she's recovering though. Thank you very much for the moral support ![]() |

It took me forever to come back here ... too much pain to bear the last few months.
On 28 of June I lost my mom forever . Obviously she didn't have any survival chance after her GP doctor diagnosed her wrong with too high blood pressure in the moment when the rupture occurred just , because she was strong enough to walk and talk normally still despites the pain she had. She spent home 4 days on blood pressure medicines sleeping ,trusting the doctor's diagnose when she needed emergency help instead.By the time they realized what was really wrong, her brain was severely damaged by the blood. So she was holding it until I came home for 20 full days after her second useless surgery.I saw her on in the ICU on 27 June and the next day she passed away 15 min before me and my family arrived for a visit in the hospital. Conclusion made : The right diagnosis made on time can save your life ! If that doesn't happen Aneurysm always kills you. |
