I have followed Dr. David Williams research and subscribed to his Alternatives Health Newsletter for years and I trust his work. He is one doc who has been talking about Vit D deficiency for 25+ yrs and no one was listening, including me..my sister who deals with MS brought the Vit D deficiency to my attention in 2006 and I was SHOCKED to see how low my D was....I thought living in So. Cal I was OK, not so, as I really "came in" from the sun in my early 50's....
I see Dr. Williams promotes DMSO, I use it and mix it with other topicals I use, and sometimes just dilute it with distilled water and rub on sorer joints. I see where he talks about Lemon Mrytle, I'll have to look at this...I use Lemon Balm sometimes, but don't know if it's the same...use Lemon Balm if sleep is a problem....it hasn't been lately. One of our members just posted about osteoporosis and whey protein and he mentions whey protein as well here. Hope the link works. Anyway, he likes Niacinimide for Arthritis and I've been using it for a year or two now and will continue.... Caroline, I would be very cautious about DMSO.
I (day job stuff) use it routinely but always wear gloves when I am handling it. In Australia DMSO is on the Schedule 4 list of drugs and poisons. What that means it is prescription-only. Only a registered health professional can prescribe it, after due consideration of the risks and benefits. I realise that DMSO is widely recommended by alt/comp med people. I strongly suggest that you get advice from an evidence-based health professional before self-medicating with it.

Thanks kiwi, I am on a DMSO group and we talk just about daily. I don't use gloves and have learned to use it for my joint help. It's not a poison here in the U.S. There are books on DMSO and I trust what I'm doing is good. I know rules and regulations in our countries are different. But thanks....C
PS: I dilute mine with distilled water and add essential oils for fragrance and enhancement too. I see only alt/comp MD's...conv MD's leave me cold. Been that route years ago. But that's me and my choices. So often WISH I could have done an alt/comp hip job...it's been my downfall. |

Talking to a health friend on another group and she is a certified health consultant, she was extolling the benefits of Niacinimide and I told her I take 500mg most days and she said I could up dose to 2500mg daily. It's good for so much including arthritis, asthma, insomnia, depression, anxiety, diabetes and other issues mentioned in this link:

Just realized I've been off Niacinimide (B3) for some time now and my knee may be missing it. I can't remember a few yrs ago how I was doing. Looks like 1000mg 3 times daily is a good dosing.
