Hi caroline2.
Unfortunately, it's not always possible to avoid a joint replacement. Towards the end of the month I will be having a Total Knee Replacement(TKR). I was diagnosed with arthritis in my mid-twenties (I am now 58) due to multiple falls through the years. I have been bone-on-bone (no cartilage/cushioning) for 3 years and have lost my quality of life.

Good wishes on that TKR, hope yours turns out better than going in. Sadly I hear stories. My knee is pretty damaged and I'm 81 and can't imagine doing it. I live with more than just ole OA but damage from other stuff like shorter leg from hip job, staph infection from an injection and then UCLA surgeons did a clean out...so as I understand it all good stuff is taken out too.
