I *LOVE* blogs

I've found a wonderful one that's all about being the wife to a new legislator, running a scrapbooking business and, BEST OF ALL, being a Mom to a wonderful little boy named 'Simon':

I've gotten interested in learning more about autism. I've found these to be useful:

Smile Adult Son with AS

Good morning all,

My adult son, age 23, was diagnosed six months ago with AS after many years of being on the 'wrong planet' and three hospitalizations for major depression. He's intelligent, handsome, articulate, extremely leary of trusting anyone outside of his contained environment. He is continuing on with his education now at a nearby college and will not be living away.

I would love to meet other aspie moms to share the joys and fears of parenting such unique children into adulthood and how to continue that process as they grow further into their own as individuals.

Let's talk! Any adults with AS, even though I'm "NT" I can understand how you feel and would love to meet you too. Thanks.

Hi aspiemom,
I didn't see your post here until now so hadn't replied. My son is 20. He wasn't diagnosed correctly until he was almost 14. He had some other conditions and his doctors put everything down to that unfortunately. Finally I was able to have him assessed by someone who is very familiar with Asperger's Syndrome and we didn't look back.

Anyway, just wanted to say "G'day" to you. This autism forum isn't always very busy ... just letting you know.
take care,
Lara

Resolve to be tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant with the weak and the wrong. Sometime in your life you will have been all of these.

I can't believe nobody's mentioned Autism Hub yet!

http://www.autism-hub.co.uk/

It's basically a list of blogs by autistic people and their families... everything from daily life stuff to people evaluating the newest research to philosophical and ethical discussions about autism, disability, human rights, etc.
