I will let the person with aspergers read this and state their opinion. I was just parroting, which I rarely do,

My Dad was recently diagnosed with Aspergers. Came as a bit of a shock initially but now I can see he fits all the behaviour patterns.

I have a 14 yr old son who was diagnosed with Asperger's back when he was 10. He is quite quirky, and he always seems to keep my guessing as to what he will say or do next.
The only thing about an Aspie, is the lack of social skills, and the no filter on what comes out of his mouth. It can be quite embarassing at times. And now that he is at that teenager time, life has been... ![]() |

I have not, but I suspect AS on myself which has made me interested in the subject. I've recently been interested how Temple Grandin helps children with autism. I think it can be considered in some aspects. I recommend the movie about her life "Temple Grandin", made in 2010.

thanks for the referral on temple grandin-i had forgotten about the movie. I've recently done a lot of research on aspergers. there is a lot of information you you tube that shows the stemming traits (hand flapping) and also the repetitive speech on specific topics-mainly children-haven't seen adults on you tube. lot of info on internet-also support groups around the country. be well, loretta

I have autism as well. I have a hard time coping with troubling thoughts (these thoughts stay in my mind almost all day everyday for months).

I worked for many years with teens many who were on the autistic spectrum and many diagnosed with Aspergers. Indeed I sat in on many assesments. As with all aspects we are alll imdividuals. If you look at the indicators many of everyday people would tick several boxes, I know I would. The main principle here is individual, a good manager gets the best out of his team by recognising strengths and weaknesses and acting accordingly to have a team of happy productive individuals. Its about assessment and the resources available to give the support so that all can have the chance to achieve and grow. Simple idea but I helped the lucky ones they got the help still too many flounder sink or in eyes of many rebel.
