It is very hard to find info about Graves disease. I had a partial thyroidectomy about 12 years ago and am now showing symptoms of hyperactive thyroid. I have had blood work done. Unfortunetly things seem to take forever to get done here. So what I am wondering is it possible that the thyroid is overactive again? With my reading I have also noted that even with the thyroid issues dealt with you still have Graves disease and am wondering what else can come about with this disease? I have been told by a doctor that I no longer have Graves because the thyroid was normal at the time of the bloodwork. The doctors around here are not very informed on Graves and am searching for my own info and advice.

I don't know if you are ever cured of Graves Disease. I just call it being in remission when I go to new doc's office. I would say remission because it can come back or burn itself out and become hypothyroidism. After I entered remission I developed MS or it reared ugly head after lurking in the shadows. Keep an eye on it.

I just happened to catch the beginning of an old (1996) movie of the week: Run for the Dream: The Gail Devers Story about the Olympic Gold Medalist who was diagnosed with Graves Disease early in her Olympic career.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gail_Devers http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117527/ This sparked a brief search on my part, as I have several female relatives with thyroid issues. From what I briefly gleaned, the bad news is: Quote:
