Default Life sometimes just needs you to go through the steps

First Derrick had his seizure. And has really had a rough week recovering.
I hate to even remember what seizures are like. I've really enjoyed thinking that we were not going to see them for a while.

Then I get a call yesterday from my middle son. His girlfriend is talking to someone in Kokomo on IM and my mother fell. So I call her to get the details.
It sure doesn't sound good. I'm really worried about her. I hope she can
handle this being alone when she has too. Its not to often but she sure
seems to fall alot anymore. But then who am I to talk.

Exclamation ((( Donna )))

hey there,

I'm sorry you have all this going on. I do hope Derrick feels better soon!

About your mom falling... repeatedly. I think is is worth looking into this. I would suggest getting her a neurological workup. Including a visit and an MRI for starters.

Often elderly people will say oh it was nothing and they must have tripped. Or lost balance... but the question is why is that happening...

I would hate to think she is having strokes or TIAs and that is why she is falling. If that is the case though, the sooner she gets some simple preventive treatment the better... before she has a major one that could do her permanent damage... or has a fall that damages her badly physically ... like breaking a hip or something... breaking anything is dreadful for elderly folks because they do not heal up as fast.

I wish you and all your family well Donna. Please keep us posted.

Donna, I hope Derrick feels better soon.
And I agree with Waves, you do need to show you mother to a neurologist.
And hope your son is fine.

Default falling

Dear Donna,

An occupational therapist can have her evaluated in her home and come up with a plan.
Also, ask her doctors to re-evaluate her meds. She might be on a combination that makes her unsteady.

Derrick is doing pretty good now. He seems to be over the headaches at least.

Hi Donna,

Whew! I'm glad to hear Derrick is feeling better and I think the others have made excellent suggestions regarding your Mom. I'm sorry that you've got so much to deal with at the moment - but I know you're a tough, smart lady. Your advice to me when I had my first big seizure was so wise and comforting.

Default Derrick bowling was fantastic

Derrick had a fantastic day bowling. He did the best I think I've seen in 3 games. He scored a 101 the first game, then went way over to a 140 the second and then I was sure he would be very low the 3rd, but no he was
a 99.

And the thing that was really nice, he was playing with 6 other kids that were encouraging each other. They were fantastic. They knew he was
going to be the winner it seems. From something Derrick told me at the end.

And they were very good about it. His scores were way over the others,
he was out of place kind of. He just was having a good day.

But it was so nice to see him having such a nice day. And the parents of
the other kids were so nice. I even had one look at me and say he was really good. And that it was so nice that he really enjoyed bowling too.

I'm so proud of the way he played and didn't rub in that he was doing so
good. But I'm more proud of the way the whole group did.

I'm also so proud of the whole group of 16 plus 3 that didn't bowl. We went to a mall for lunch after the bowling. And then walked the mall. And some of the kids got to sit on santa's lap. And even though its always been a big
thing that you don't take pictures unless your buying. They let our other
kids take pictures of the kids or the scene.

And santa even showed the bus driver how to use her cell phone to take pictures of the kids. He took the phone out of her hands. It was so funny.

It will be something our kids will remember.
