HI,
The neuro I go to for sleep apnea said I was averaging 4.5 hours of sleep a night (not counting a few naps each week). I told him I don't sleep and I'm tired. He gave me a sample pack of Nuvigil (armodifinil). He told me to take half a pill upon waking. So that means I would be taking 75 mgs. He says it will improve wakefullness and help with fatigue. I will call the pdoc to check with him -- mostly because I forgot to remind the sleep neuro that I had a stroke in July and can't take anything that increases risk. M. |

HI,
He said it was not a stimulant. He said it is an improvement over Provigil. http://www.musc.edu/psychiatry/resea...ilens_2006.pdf I asked what part of the brain it worked. He may have said something about the prefrontal cortex but I was not really listening and also looking back I think it was not a relevant question. Maybe I should have asked about the mechanism of the med -- not about it's place. He checked it with his software to make sure it did not interfere with current meds. I think it is a hugely expensive med. Some folks on-line say it is used off label for ADHD. I used to take ritalin and loved it. Maybe I should try ritalin again. M. |

Hugely expensive is an understatement.
Most insurances do not cover it.

If ritalin worked for you. I would check into that. It is something that when it works is so good. All three of my son's started on it. But when they would have needed a large dosage changed to adderall. Donna ![]() |
