Wow, I don't know what is going on with our gas prices in our area.

Its from 3.00 to 4.00.

Just doesn't make sense.

Hey Dmom3005. They seem to have many situations going on where they say that they have to raise the price of gas. I don't believe most of what I hear when it comes to the gasoline industry. BP most definitely lied to everyone during the BP disaster.

I think that the storm is headed up to my state on the mid-Atlantic. Mari. I guess that you are feeling the affects of the storm right now. Please be careful. BF

Default Gas prices

Hi,

This is an extimated breakdown of what we pay at the pump:

A 80% of what we pay for gasoline is determined by world crude oil prices;

B 10% is federal and state taxes;

C 5% is refining; and

D 5% is marketing and

Most of what we pay is determined by the global market.

The price usually comes down a little in the winter because the gas stations have a winter blend.

Thanks to you both.

They are saying to a degree its because of the election coming up.

So I think I'll just take advantage of it.

And when it comes to BP, I so agree, But right now. I'm not
going to be sorry they are around.

They are who my husband is working for, the company. But not the
contractor. If it wasn't for the company their would be no job for
him right now.

So I'll take it. And just watch were I buy my gas. As he does too.

Red face

if you guys saw the gas prices here you'd cough up cows. i'll spare you the math but between euros and liters but it comes out to over $7 / gallon. it's one reason why it's so expensive to own a car here. even some that do don't use it for their daily commute but only for outings or places you can't reach with public transport. i do miss having a car, i tell ya though. i am shocked to hear about those gas prices in the US. my golly. time back, a friend told me it hit 2 bucks in Florida and i coughed up a cow then. my oh my.

============

on a more weathery note, we might get snow soon. it's forecast for elevated areas ... we are in for some cold weather for sure with or without the white fluffy stuff. and the trees are still mostly green with a bit of yellow and a few fallen brown leaves! poor things! they haven't really had a chance to really splay out the reds.

Default Hurricane Sandy

This hurricane,Sandy,may make a turn into my home state. It's a strange storm for this time of year. The weather bureau thinks that it's going to make a sudden left turn into my state,and a cold front is coming in from the West. A TV meteorologist said that in the mountains of my state,we could receive 50"Inches of snow. If that happens,it will be very strange,and memorable. Another one said no accumulations. BF

Default Two high tides

Hi, Steve,

There are so many variables at play that the weather forecasters are only making good educated guesses. Maybe by Sunday night or Monday morning they will have a better idea than they do now. My understanding is that they have gotten pretty good at forecasting place but are not all that great at forecasting intensity yet.

We are hearing that the storm might take a while to pass through a place (24 hours I think I heard but I am not sure) -- this causes rain or snow for a loong period of time.
For preparing for hurricanes here they tell us to have enough water and food for a week in case we lose electric power. Do what you can to prepare -- check batteries, get cat food, and so on. I hope that you will be all right.

We have a full moon Monday. That increases the high tides.

Thinking of you all dealing with so much bad weather.

We've just been watching live tv from Hawaii on and off for some hours now. Beats me why some people are so fool-hardy and go down the beach to look at a tsunami. What's with that? I admit to going out in torrential rain and watching the electrical storms, but I won't go down the beach to watch for a tsunami in the dark of night. ugh Hopefully all will be well there in the coming hours. Sounds as if it's all smaller than predicted.

I also hope that Hurricane Sandy heads east and fizzles out as some do here from time to time. Just hoping...

Anyway, just wanted to say that I'm thinking of you all east coast, west coast, in the middle and pacific. Keep safe.

Default Hi Broken Friend

take care during this storm. I do know what it is like to be facing a bulls eye. This one is going to do something icky, so be prepared. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the whole east coast. I know alot of folks out that way, including my 93 year old Aunt Mary. She has evacuated from Buzzards bay MA. as she sits very close to the water. Let us know how you are doing. ginnie

Hello, steve, & family -
As mari said, do prepare with water, food, pet supplies, batteries, lanterns/flashlights, in the event of being w/o electrical power for week to 10 days. If you've a fireplace, hopefully you've got a supply of wood you may want to move into garage for dryness, accessibility.

As we do DownHere in preparation, it's always a good thing ahead of time to have all your underwear & clothing for a week, washcloths, towels, sheets, etc clean & ready.

We DownHere yesterday have only just gotten the cold front from the NNW. No rain involved, just windy. No big deal here; it just dropped our temps from 86 Fri high/60 low; to overnight lows in the 40s. A non-issue.
Thinking of you & your family up there.
