Default Any ideas!

As you all know my mother had hurt her foot. It turns out that they
found out last Monday that its a broken foot or ankle not sure which.

So as of now they have stopped both OT and PT. Because the Orthopedic
doesn't want any weight or anything on the foot.
HE told my sister that OT would even put some on it.

But its now taking 2 people to lift my mother. She is getting the nurse
once a week. The home aide 2 or 3 times a week. But we are really
struggling to cover all the overnight stays.

My sister has talked my mother into hiring a CNA for $ 35.00 dollars
a hour for 8 hours a night. For a few nights a week.

She has even had to enlist a friend that loves my mom to help.

But I wont be able to lift her, and Derrick will be able to help during
the day and evening. I would even allow him to help to about 1am
if he is able to stay awake.

Because he is on spring break and can sleep otherwise.

But we still aren't covering it all. Any idea's if the doctor wrote
it out if medicaid/medicare might pay for the CNA at night.

Thanks
Donna

Wanted to tell everyone that Sunday the 21st of March is my 29th
wedding anniversary. Its usually been like pulling teeth to get my
husband to recognize this. THis year when I asked, he says yes
right away to going out to dinner. And today when I talked to
him on the cell phone. He had stopped and bought me a card.

WOW, you wouldn't believe how many years its been since I got
a card.

Donna

* One very happy Donna* surprised to say the least.

Happy Anniversary, Donna!
And that is great that your husband is getting on board with a plan.

I've got no good ideas to help your mother in her place except to keep asking for help until you find the right agency. Someone is supposed to help you / her.

Bizi
My sister who has more experience in these things than I do. Says, that
a Rehab center can't take her till she is ready to do Occupational therapy
and physical therapy again.

That they would place her in a nursing home. And We all know that would
not be what my mother wants. She would then not only feel we deserted
her. But also that doing this is not something we want to do.

I am at a hard place in this. I personally can't do much of the lifting.
But my husband doesn't understand this. But he helped a lot over the
weekend. So I am not upset with his getting on to me. Saying I should
be staying up some nights to help too.

Its just not something I can do.
