I slept most of today after getting home. I just had a rough night last night.
I was up with my mom, but also couldn't sleep.

My husband was working hard to make what ever Derrick and I wanted
for dinner. But the steak just was way to tough. And for some reason
nothing he was doing was going right. So Derrick was so tired, and
then the new game he bought wouldn't load. So he was very upset.

Then my poor Dale went to remake our bed. He had done the sheets,
and the stuff going on top. And for some reason the bed took a
bite or two out of his fingers.

Waves, I forgot, is C+ an interactive language or one sided like HTML? I took a short online course in computer programming a couple of years ago and it was a hard course. It does keep the mind sharp though to try to learn something challenging. I'd say to try to do both, the C+ and the singing. If you can do C+ you are doing rather good mentally. The actual language C was one of the 1st programming languages wasn't it? I'd love to be able to get back into knowing all that stuff once my eye gets fixed. I did a whole website once using HTML code. The CSS was too hard but I did find a course or two that explained it easier than my earlier attempts. I just don't know where those courses are now. Maybe you could do web design from home for work? I think so.

Dear Barbara... computer stuff

Dear Barbara,

I am actually a software developer by profession. I know many languages, including C, C++ (C plus-plus) and Java, so learning a new one, especially one similar to those, isn't a big deal for me, skill-wise.

My issues are more of a personal/emotional kind than an intellectual kind. Yes, i do intend to try to do both... singing and C#. need to pay (my own) bills.

C was not really one of the first languages... hmmm... well, nowadays, with all that has come out, i suppose you could say it was, LOL! It's definitely an old staple by now. I learned it 20 odd years ago, right out of the original Kernighan and Ritchie book. :)

To try to answer your question, C# (C sharp) is a full blown object-oriented programming language, syntactically and conceptually similar to C++ and Java. You can develop any piece of software with it. It is not specifically for web content. Web applications designed in it would have to run on the back end (server, not the browser), where it would require the .NET framework which is MS Windows based. I think there may be some sort of emulator for Linux but not sure - something i need to find out.

HTML and CSS are not, strictly speaking, programming languages. They are made up of data formatting directives, not machine instructions, and they do not have the concept of flow control. Mind you, when i code in HTML, i sometimes call it "programming" too - so, sue me! right? ;) but it is technically more accurate to say coding - which is generic, or authoring.

hope that makes some sense. not sure if i have clarified things or made things more murky. :o I hope you are able to get into this stuff more, once your eyes are fixed. It sounds like you have a real interest in it. :)

Thanx Waves for the explanation. I don't think that I have it in me to learn programming thoroughly smarts wise but I am interested in dabbling in it. I actually would perfer learning more about coding than programming. It is so very challenging for me and I guess because I've been told I could not do it by Voc Rehab makes me want to do it all the more. I really like the challenge of trying to learn it.
