Default thinking this lunch is not a good idea
Hi,

I asked for some help from my team about what to say. They emailed me some stuff. Probably only a dozen people will be at the lunch but the whole thing is making me upset and anxious.


WHAT WAS I THINKING to agree to this? The colleague that organized the lunch and then asked me to participate is well intentioned but clueless. I'm going to call him tomorrow and figure out a way out of this.

I can't talk in front of people.
I cannot be in the same room with my boss.
I can't sit through a whole lunch while we say good-bye to these people.


This summer really stinks.
Most summers I get a break.
This summer -- not a break.

if you are not up for this don't make yourself go through with it. someone else can speak. the person who had this brilliant idea has a mouth on them, let them use it. do not put your sanity on the line over what is essentially a work-lunch.

Default luncheon went fine
Hi,
I arrived on time and left early. Last night I told the colleague running the lunch that I had to leave early. He said ok.
My friend who "retired" asked me to sit with her.

The restaurant was noisy and the table configuration was wrong so no one could hear my 1.5 minute speech. That's ok.

People came dressed up and in a mood to be nice.
We all took lots of pictures.
Then I left without having to eat (the others' food was starting to arrive when I left).

And my speech went well. I had practiced pronouncing it.
If anyone had heard what I said, they would have heard me speak clearly.

Dear Mari

Bravo!!!!!


You are back to the Mari I first met here. In so many ways. You
just don't realize it. I have a hard time speaking in front of people.

But I can tell you Mari, I use you as my mentor many times now,
to make it through my speaking times.

I can say I have come a long way. And I really have the fact that
you work so hard to speak after the speech problems.
To say that I am a better speaker.

and i don't even know how to say what i wanted to say but what i did say i guess sounds weird. at least it does not sound like what i meant. sigh.
