they make cranberry capsules...I think that azo makes them,,,, concentrated cranberrymuch better than the cranberry juice...because it is concetrated amounts.

Thanks Bizi

I will look for the cranberry capsules. And we will see what happens.

She was called this morning and medicine was changed.

Its a E Coli infection. And she wasn't happy being told to take new
medicine for 10 days. She will though.

Red face

in her kidney? or her bladder?
e coli infections are common of the bladder... so easy to contaminate yourself.

according to a doc who treated me for a UTI, the effectiveness of cranberry juice has not got to do with it being acidic - in fact i was explicitly told to stay away from citrus juices as they would just be more irritating...

http://www.aafp.org/afp/2004/1201/p2175.html
Quote:
The mechanism of action of cranberry has prompted much scientific discussion. It was first hypothesized that acidification of the urine contributed to an antibacterial effect. The current proposed mechanism of action focuses primarily on cranberry’s ability to prevent bacterial binding to host cell surface membranes. In vitro studies have observed potent inhibition of bacterial adherence of Escherichia coli4 and other gram-negative uro-pathogens.5 Cranberry has been found to specifically inhibit hemagglutination of E. coli by expression of types 1 and P adhesin through the component compounds fructose and proanthocyanidins.
i have no idea how this would affect kidneys. i would suggest anything she wants to take, run it by a doc first. kidneys are so sensitive...

Not exactly sure about the bladder. But it has to do with one of
her kidneys being very small. This is why she has to see a kidney
specialist. And he told her he thinks she is allergic to caffeine.

She is allergic to lots of things. So she really needs to see a
allergist. I learned today that there is a allergy drop too.

It was a interesting read. I want her to see my doctor
that treats both myself and my husband for migraines she has
them bad. And he is the one that has allergy drops.

And its for people with both food and all kinds of outdoor and indoor
allergies. So we will see.

But first she has to get someone to refer her.

Okay we will see how long it takes.

But today at her doctor's appt. They said, they would refer her
to a neurologist and a kidney specialist.

So will keep a look out to make sure it happens.

10 is alot...... but remember that 1 big vial is eaual to 1 teaspoon
...still 10 is alot!
Usually they have a big urine collector on ice and they do a 24 hour urine collection to check how her kidneys are functioning....it used to be the best indicatior of how your kidneys were functioning...but things could have changed...it has been along time since I was working in the hospital.
And there is alot of stuff that I don't know anything about.
