Dear Bizi
your art walk sounds nice... you guys do that a fair bit huh? i like those sorts of things. the adult drink sounds good too... s'wut ah cawl, 'chillin' :D well, have a great evening! :) oh btw the caffeine does have the desired effect... it's the other efforts that aren't. the only thing is now i am addicted again and have to decrease it...ack!. i too have decaf - sometimes mix caf and decaf while i'm reducing. i like the taste of coffee and coffee drinks, including iced coffee on hot afternoons. :) lately i've been making fresh iced tea a lot too. do you ever make coffee-milk? like chocolate milk, but coffee-flavored? same amounts of instant coffee and sugar as you would for making a regular cup of coffee, but dissolve them in just a tiny bit of hot or room-temp water. then fill the glass the rest of the way with milk. it's yumsters!!! :) ~ waves ~ |

Derrick has never made his own Frames. In this particular case its a 18 x 24 frame. Wow it would be hard. I have no clue how to make them. So I need to figure that out for him. With this being the last for 4-h then we can start a new hobby for him. Making frames. 4-h (waves) Is a program in the states that you do individual projects for ribbons, and trophies. But you mainly compete agains your talent or how you did. At least in our small community. It can be foods, art, woodwork, leather, ceramics, baskets, clothings, animals, and many other things. One of the things I love the most about our county is that its always been very good to its special needs kids. But then that is what 4-h is too. I used to be a leader. And we always encourage our kids to go to judging and watch their projects be judged. I would make sure certain kids judges were told about their disabilities. One in particular, we had to make sure that when he went to be judged for his clown outfit and how he performed. That if he didn't do good, that they didn't put him down. It turned out that he and his sister were the only two in the program that year. The clowning around division. She was grand champion and he was reserved grand champion. His mother swore they gave it to him because of his disability. I told her no, they didn't have a reason to. They could have just given him the champion in his division, because they were in different divisions. Because I had told the mother to do that. The next year he beat his sister. And some other kids. But he was a success at this. And then it was so neat. Derrick had a really bad year one year. And his projects you could tell. But when the judges found out he did the projects having seizures. They graded it with that in mind. And he was home sleeping of a seizure that morning. Donna:grouphug: |
Dear Donna,
MITER BOX
What kind of art work is he framing? He can make his own frames if he has a miter box. A miter box can help him saw wood in 45 degree angles. If Derrick can get 1. some scrap wood, 2. a saw, 3. a miter box, and 4. some wood glue 5. a staple gun, small nails, and a hammer, he can make his own frames. My brother took painting lessons using acrylic paint when he was a teenager. The frames got to be expensive so my mom taught him how to make his own miter box. http://www.home-dzine.co.za/diy/diy-mitrebox.htm http://i419.photobucket.com/albums/p...8/mitrebox.jpg http://www.home-dzine.co.za/crafts/craft-framed.htm After some one shows him how to do it the first time, he can do it by himself -- he will have a new hobby! My brother needed lots of frames for shows and he liked working with the wood. If Derrick needs a frame only once in a while that is different. M. |
My weekend
Hi,
I slept 8 hours on Saturday. It was marvelous. On Sunday the cleaning lady is coming. I called and told her we might not do any cleaning. I need her to throw out more stuff. I can't do it by myself (and hubby gets stressed) and lots of it is really is junk. When the junk goes I will have more room for the stuff I treasure and that I find meaningful. M. |
that sounds good Mari. i wish i could have more of my things out too. that will be nice for you. home will feel more homey. :)
i didn't end up tackling my paper piles (but that's just about accessibility, not making room). :o ~ waves ~ |
Mari
Thanks for the directions. I have to get better at letting him use the tools by himself first. With the seizures. I'm not good at this. So I will work on it. He had a seizure at work on Saturday it brought me back to reality. Ugh. Donna |
Dear Donna,
If making frames from home is too hard, then drop it. We all need to do what works best.
In my brother's case he liked working with the wood. It kept him busy. M. |
Dear Donna,
thanks for explaing the 4-h program. i guess now i am really wondering what project Derrick is doing, that involves Lego? and an 18x24" frame!!! intriguing! maybe you can post a pic for us when he is finished? :D anyway i wish him well with that. sorry he had a seizure saturday, i hope he feels better by now. and you too. you know i really think of you as a power-mom! ;) ~ waves ~ |

He has two different projects. One is for one of the pictures he did at school this year. We need to frame a painting. For Arts and Crafts. The other, well he is making a apartment out of legos. At least what he thinks he would have if we had a apartment for him here. A bedroom, master bathroom, and a stairway to a balcony. We already have the stairway so he is making it for a balcony. With a dog to represent is dog. Donna |
LOL!!! Ok i get it now!!! :D leave it to me... i woulda had you making a frame out of legos next :p:D
that sounds so cute the apartment out of legos! :) ~ waves ~ |
