Default missing my friend/my second mother

Our yoga teacher tonight reminded us that doing yoga can bring up emotional issues.

On the way home from yoga class in the car I sobbed about my friend I lost on June 26 to a long illness. She was the mother of my college dorm mate and has been a mother to me since college 25 years ago.

She nurtured me and let me nurture her back -- things my mother can't do. I miss her.

I keep in touch with her daugther (my former dorm mate), but J is not good about talking about her feelings.

This might sound wierd, but sometimes I am relieved that I am having "honest" emotions, emotions that can be recognized.....rather than some kind of generic bipolar/stress/anxiety/fatigue/......

Unhappy

((((((Mari)))))),

Yeah, that's the hard part about turning off the 'ice' -- you get to FEEL, but you feel EVERYTHING.

It's harder. But, it's better TO FEEL than not to feel.

Close, loving relationships deserve tears when they've ended. You were very lucky to have her in your life. Now, you've got to pass on the gift that you were given.

Hugs.

Barb

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.

Remember to give yourself time to grieve, it's important.

Default dear Mari

i remember when you posted about losing your friend. i had not realized... your friend / second mom. that sounds like two losses.

i'm glad you were able to cry and feel what it was about. i hate the not knowing times. i'm so sorry for your post.

I share a lot of what Barb expressed so well, also.

my mother does not always know how to mother, but sometimes we can mother each other, and it is ok. i am terrified of losing my parents. i feel for you, Mari, in the shape of fear of such a loss.

Red face

Dear Mari,
I too am glad that you are getting in touch with your feelings.
Some times it is hard to tell the difference between what is a normal feeling and was is the bipolar telling us....
I think that we are more feeling beings...if we allow ourselves to be ...to just be....
Powerful emotions are just that...they can be very scarey.
I remember feeling so angry at some one...I would have shot him if he had been there...now that was a scarey feeling.
Do you ever journal?
