Oh Kay,

UGH what a yucky day!!!!

your doc doesn't sound very responsive at all. i am assuming you made them aware of your urgency and a half hour late, called in is not at all bad. she was able to take the next patient so that offset it some too. what a big picture lady we have here, eh, doctor or whatever

i am glad your PCP is teaming up with you to help get a new neuro who can really take care of you.

(((hugs)))

My neuro never called the NP back, so she asked my PCP about the baclofen and he wrote the script for it. Yea!

I hope it will help with the spasms AND pain. I'm going to pick it up now.

I personally wouldn't go back on the 16th. Sorry I just don't think
much of that kind of neuro. I'm so sorry you had to go through
that.

I am so glad that the NP and PCP came through for you.

Way to go for them.

i tend to agree in with Donna here. especially after her not returning the call from your NP. and she was already off track as to your dx/tx, right?

but it's really whether you think going there on the 16th will do any good... or more to the point, whether it might do more harm than good... you have some time to decide. i am hoping your docs can find you a different neuro who can get you in even sooner than the 16th, so there.

Thank you ladies!

It may be months before I can get into a new neuro, so the NP and PCP want me to keep the appointment. I can't just go to any neurologist- an MS Center is optimal, a specialist in MS at the least.

Once I find a good candidate, I'm going to call and ask questions. My #1 is: What is your stance on symptom management? Do you make patients suffer until they can get in for an appointment?
Frankly, I'd rather just stick to my PCP, but I think he'd rather have me with a good neurologist.

All the treatments that are stronger than tysabri are chemotherapy- lots of side effects and not found to be very effective. I'd rather stay as healthy as I can and treat symptoms than take something that can cause severe side effects and get worse anyways. So far, I've been getting worse anyway, so what's the difference?

So far, the baclofen isn't helping, but the pharmacy insert said it may take 1-2 months to see the full benefit. My back and right hip are especially bad today (last night too)- 10/10. The tramadol is helping a little, now I'm at 9/10. I've also been alternating between tylenol and aleve.
------

Oh, I forgot to tell you! I saw my regular therapist yesterday!!! I hadn't seen her since January. I was so happy to see her, and we had a good appt. I got to discuss all my medical woes- a load off my mind.

I was glued to the heating pad last night, and I'm on it right now. I've also done some light stretching. It seems to be helping, but the pain's still there... hanging out at 9/10... and I was complaining about 8/10... Ha!

I have to have another pelvic ultrasound for the ovarian cysts tomorrow. They want me to drink 32 oz. of fluids before hand... I can look forward to pissing myself... there's no way I can hold that volume of liquid.
I'll have my lithium level drawn while I'm there.
I'm sure the GYN will take her time getting back to me with the results.

Aside from the above, I'm laying low tomorrow. The more I do, the more spasms and pain.

Thank you all for your support. It means so much to me!
