Wink Klonopin or Klonipin

Hey Troops,

Are we talking of the same drug or not? I've look both up one is additive, one is not.. I want off Ambein, so my primary put me on Trazadone. But if I don't take it by 9pm it's foggy city until at least 10 am.

For the first time since the cows came home I had a great weekend. Went out to eat Saturday nite, and sat in the sun most of the day today. I got a sunburn, do you know how that makes me feel?? Hot, just kidding; but I truly had a good time.

TTYS,,,,,

Default Weird bipolar

I tried posting this earlier in another thread but it failed

I'm 56 now and have had major clinical depression every 10 years since age 25. Major where I wanted to kill myself, lost weight etc...requiring hospitalization.

I recently came off of a major depression and when I was actually starting to come out of it the p-doc gave me remeron. I went extremely manic for about 2.5 weeks...had to go to a hospital.

So they took me off of remeron and put me on seroquel and lithium, which has done a wonderful job of leveling me out.

I don't seem to find any cases of someone my age suddenly becoming bipolar. Maybe I've been bipolar all along and the depressions just drowned out the hypomanic episodes.

Any thoughts? By the way, this is a great site, thanks to everyone who contributes.

If you could see me now, you might be asking why I am laughing so inappropriately at your query. Sorry. It's just that I was dx bipolar 2 yrs ago...at age 63!

I'd been labelled "clinically depressed" first at age 8 (also suicidal then, swallowed an entire bottle of 250 aspirin). Depression dx repeated/reaffirmed periodically the rest of my life, accompanied by drugging & occasional therapy when I could afford it (or had insurance that believed in mental health).

I've been here at NeuroTalk not quite 2 months, but I found kindred & caring & informed spirits when I looked around & I've been spending a lot of time here since, reading reading reading. All that stuff above the threads in this forum for a start.

Bizi, who started the thread we're on now, has pasted/linked in masses of current info that can give you a basic reading knowledge in the field, enough to get your feet under you to begin your own further personal research based on your case/life.

IMO, I've been bipolar most (maybe all) of my life. The "clinically depressed" dx at 8 was wrong. I don't have a lot of high manic cycles, mine are mostly hypomanic. What is for me feeling normal to really great (not much of a leap from good to great for me) is hypomanic; sometime it cycles briefly manic, but mostly when I cycle it takes me into a really serious depression.

No one, including me, noticed the mania because it existed as part of a pattern, in relation to the whole. Looked at in itself, isolated from the pattern, it didn't included much of the "typically manic" behavior that shows up on check lists. It's all a matter of the individual, of degree.

It took a really bad episode, great friends, a guardian angel or 2, & a hospital staff psychiatrist who didn't just pass me on a previous diagnosis to get me to my bipolar label. I thank god for it--life's much better now.

But that's me. You? You'll have to find your story yourself.

Whee! Longwinded, ain't I? But you did kinda ask. Kinda.

Make yourself at home. Meet everyone (it's a real humdinger of a bunch), introduce yourself some more if you're comfortable with that. Come back. Keep asking questions.

You are the closest to "another me" I've found here, so I hope you'll forgive me if I've come off a bit hypomanic .

Thanks JL. Great, didn't believe I was the only person who was diagnosed later in life. The manic phase I had this time was truly undeniable...spent a ton of money on other people (about 10k), talking my head off to everyone, so I finally got the right drugs and things got leveled out.

I'm back at work so I'll try to get back as often as possible.
