Hey, Dawg, as ~ waves ~ said (re: daughter's present): WOWWWWWW!

It's so terrific that you're encouraging her talent & giving her something so beautiful to boot. 1 art embodied in another. Tres COOL.

Also Interesting to hear about your reading list. I've read those too. I'm still wrestling with the difference btw "clinical depression" & depression as part of the bipolar cyclical pattern. (freaky aside: all my life people've said I look like Patty Duke. hmm.)

Default Carrie Fisher?

Dear Curly,

Carrie Fisher was diagnosed with bipolar in her thirties. She has several books out about her Hollywood family. At least one book talks about her memory loss from her ECT treatments.

Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher

Postcards from the Edge

I wasn't able to read through the books you mention. They were too triggering for me. I listened to a few moments on Kay Redfield Jamison in some talk interviews when she first came out of the closet about her bipolar. That was pretty intense. She has some other talks on youtube.

Dear JudeLauren,
Patty Duke is beautiful.
I'm not going to tell you which Hollywood actress people have told me about over the years. I want to look like someone glamorous if I have to look like someone famous.

Jude Lauren

I have to tell you, If someone told me I looked like Patty Duke, I'd be
honored. And find that a treasured thing.

I always loved the shows she was part of. I always thought how neat
a person she is and was. I just wanted to see the things she was
part of.

It was so much more down to earth.

Well, I'm told I look like Sean Connery. Wait a minute, that was me that told me that when I was very manic I'm only 5'9", I have a southern accent instead of that awesome one he has, and I ain't rich. I am bald though, so as far as I'm concerned I'm halfway there.

Mari,
Yes, my daughter will love playing on it, she's doing that right now.
I had a hard time with several of Kay's books, especially the suicide book. But I really wanted to get through it so I did. I'm gonna look into some of those Carrie Fisher books too. My sister had ECT and always talked about the memory loss. Then when my dad was having a really bad time the docs wanted him to have ECT but she was against it. He ended up not getting it but I was all for it...I would rather have had him minus a few memories than lose him to suicide. He and my sister are both with the Lord now, neither from suicide.

Yes, Patty Duke is awesome, and beautiful. I definately had a crush on her as a child.

Dear CurlyDawg... or shall i call you "Sean"

i am sorry about the loss of your dad and sister. i realize all circumstances are difficult, but i'm still glad for you that it wasn't by their own hand. (((hugs)))

i got hooked on Patty Duke when Nickelodeon started running "Nick at Nite" ... and reran The Patty Duke Show .... over and over and over... loved it. adored her, and her ability to play the very different "twin-cousin" part.

Crazy Dear Mari & Donna, about Patty Duke....

I guess I forgot to add that I could barely see the resemblance when I was young. Now that I'm, uh not young I see nothing alike in us. Oh well.

But thanks for all the nice things you said! I was pretty okay looking when I was young. No real complains. But she always was the pretty one .

Exclamation You, CurlyDawg, could be closer to Sean than you think.

Actually, as one in possession of a Southern accent, you ought to find it much easier that practically any other-accented person would to learn a "stage-British" accent.

So, with a little practice, you could be two-thirds to Sean, theatrically speaking. CL?

OK, guv'ner, I'll work on that stage-British thing.

JudeLauren

I think in my own opinion. That its not exactly the way you look.

Its more the personality. I personally always thought she was
such a neat person. On stage or off.

I think being compared to her is a compliment at any age.
