Ideally on empty stomach. Doxy is less sensitive to presence of food, and the low dose should not be irritating.

The low dose you use should not upset you if you take on empty stomach.

Bizi...if you still use that Geodon:

All the atypicals have this risk...of affecting the pituitary.
It might be a good idea to get a hormone panel done. At the doctor's. (not the saliva)
Not all adenomas are cancer, many are benign. But they have the potential for causing hormone dysregulation and this varies among individuals quite a bit.

This website tabulates side effects based on reports to the FDA.

The first graph shows skin conditions listed near the bottom.

There is controversy about how to take the oracea, the insert says empty stomach one hour after but his script says take with food. I questioned it with the staff and they said they always for years have had people take it with food.
I think it is dandy that I can drink my coffee and that I don't have to get up any earlier, I would rather sleep. I am going to ask the pharmacist tomorrow when I pick it up.
He wants me to start using moisturizer over the aczone...so I will start doing that tonight. Hope my face doesn't freak out from it...have never used a moisturizer before.

anyway
thanks for checking in with me.

Dear Bizi i've read conflicting info on the Oracea too... patient inserts say take on an empty stomach but Wikipedia says:
Quote:

Food, including dairy products, does not interfere with the absorption of doxycycline, unlike most other tetracycline antibiotics.
and references "Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics; Editors: A. G. Gilman, L. S. Goodman, T. W. Rall and F. Murad, 7th edition, MacMillan Publishing Co., New York, 1985, pp. 1170-1198."

Patient inserts may be based on the drug class, who knows. Pharmacy information can be based on that too... no telling. If your derm says it's ok, then... i probably wouldn't be too concerned. I can see where it would make life easier. You can always try, and if it seems not to work as well just go back to taking it without food.

Good luck with the new moisturizer.:hug::hug:

The bottom line: If it does not upset you take the doxy on an empty stomach. Since you are on low dose... and food may affect "some" of the absorption, you lose a higher % with lower dosing.

well I am jsut drinking it with my coffee with creamer which is about 100 calories or less...that is what I missed the most I can wait on the food until lunch my usual eating time. It was all about the coffee! thanks for your post waves, I am glad that dairy does not interfer with absorption.
have a good day...I chose not to use the moisturizer last night am oily this morning...will make myself use it tonight.
sigh
bizi am driving a rental car, too big! my car is in the shop, they striped the drain plug when changing the oil so that has to be replaced on their dime.
Should get my car back saturday. It is a big black crysler withi lots of pick up!
I am not used to that with my little hybrid.....

picked up the oracea antibiotic, both the pharm and the outside directions say to take it on an empty stomach but of course on the label it says to take it with food like the derm ordered.
I will wait to eat.
All last week It did not upset my stomach so I can do that.
But I will be having coffee. I now take all of my vit and supplements with lunch.
bizi
thank you for sticking with me and for your support.
