I completed the lesson plan/exercises today.

I printed schemas for extra material in case the student is fast, or we need a change of theme. i made an extra exercise accordingly. (a harder one, so it will take her time hehe).

i feel good about myself now. i got done by 11pm... but i overslept till lunchtime and then wound up with a migraine. meds and a nap worked, but that took away more time. then it was rush rush rush. frankly i thought i'd still be working on things.

i think i shall take a lorazepam to help me get to sleep faster, so i can get up sooner.

Class went really smoothly.

I didn't even use the extra bits, and even suspended some of the intensive phonetics for next time (it would have been overwhelming). Initially i spent a few minutes asking the student about her specific needs, and about past (negative) experiences where she had given up the class.

during a coffee break, we talked about a possible text book. she had somewhat expected the class to "come with a manual" (who wouldn't lol ). i told her that the english classes did not, but i suggested we could go together to a bookstore to look at textbooks that might suit her. initially she thought that might be a good idea, however at the end of the lesson however, she said she would prefer that i prepare the material for her so that we could target specific areas.

at one point the student said that i put her at ease. i felt good about that.

i am reconsidering getting a textbook for myself, now that i know what her obejctives are, but jury's out on that still. it won't be before wednesday for sure, so next lesson is all on me. but it will be easier to prep than this one i think.

i just hope the rest of the course goes this well!

right now i need to rest up and let my pills work properly.

The thing I love the most out of this.

Is you put the student to ease. And I think, you probably have a person
that needed someone just like you to teach her. I'm betting she went
home much more relaxed and happy.

I am guessing she felt about the same way you did when you guys
started today. And might have had a headache too.

So good job. I'm guessing the school knew exactly what they were
looking for when they chose you.
