2013 July 22 Earth and Moon from Saturn
I would think that it's a partial telescopic view of the earth, and the moon from Saturn. Saturn looks like a big star in the night. Earth is smaller then Saturn,a gas giant,so I would think that earth looks like a star in the sky,and not that big. I've seen Saturn, and a few moons with my back yard telescope years ago. I could not tell that it has a ring, but I could see something around both sides, and tiny moons. So I could barely see Saturn, and several moons with a telescope. I was at The Science Museum in my state, and they had several telescopes out looking at the sky. I saw Saturn with one of those big telescopes, their rings, and a shadow from the rings on Saturn itself. Don't buy a cheap telescope. Go to one of these Science Museum outings. BF One more to share 2013 July 20: Comet Lemon and the deep sky I clicked on this picture, and made it bigger, and was so awe stricken as to how many stars there where in the background. I saw comet Lemon, the green one,but the stars in the background got my attention. BF |

Hi, Steve,
This is a new way to see things --- seeing us as if we are on Saturn. http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap130722.html Quote:

This looks more accurate.
2013 July 23:Two Views of Earth These look more accurate because of the size being smaller. When we look through the atmosphere,we see small stars, and a few larger ones,so Earth itself is going to look small, and yes, that's where we have lived all of our lives. The other picture of yesterdays earth, and moon look different, and fuzzy now. They changed the pictures. They probably had complaints from the Astronomy community. BF |

That is interesting about changing pictures that they had already posted. Here is Tuesday's link to the pictures of Saturn and Earth and Earth's moon: http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap130723.html Quote:

Hey Mari. Yes,it is a mystery. The picture from yesterday that was changed looked like it was from a space probe possibly almost reaching Mars, and taking a picture of Earth. (((But))) that picture of Earth was way to big to be taken from Saturn unless it was magnified through a telescope,so we didn't have the proper presentation of it's size. The two pictures of earth today look about right. BF

The picture of how small the earth looks like from Saturn made the news today. I forgot which network it was on.
I saw it on TV after Mari posted it for me on Neurotalk. Thanks Mari. BF |

Yes. Us all being in this tiny spec of a planet seen from Jupiter,in this solar system, and in the Milky Way Galaxy in this specific period of time in the billions of years that the Universe has been expanding makes us all related.
I wish that the people in the World would realize this, and stop making wars, and hating people because they are different. What a wast of time on Earth. There must be a better way. BF |
