The way I had it written down before could sound like it was the other way around. I surely didn't mean to write down a place for angry dads. BF

I am one. My father was probably bipolar II and self medicated with alcohol. He was a rageacholic(SP) too, especially when he wasn't drinking. i think i became paranoid as a result. My psychiatrist said my bipolar wouldn't have been so bad if i had grown up in a different envirionment. He was also very critical and liked to make me cry.

I also am sorry you grew up in that kind of environment. It makes sense of lots of the things that make you anxious too. So when you start to get anxious its very much possible you start to remember your childhood. And think someone like that is around the corner. So it makes you not want to look out and see what is going on. So if it would help to talk about it please feel free too. We are hear to listen. But I'm guessing it would probably make it worse. So just talk when you can. Donna |

In the time before this,I was sent to Military school. I had reading problems. I started having panic attacks again while I was there. Then I was sent to another prep school. The guys at that prep school heard that I was coming to their school from a military school. I was attacked at that prep school when I arrived there. At that time I was being given 40 Mg's of Valium to get through the day. Ten Mg's 4 times a day. It didn't work, and I was shook up,and I just wanted to get away from everyone. Then I went back to school while being transferred home. By that time I was sitting in the back of classes, and just wanted to get away from everyone. Through all of this dad blew up at me. Like you said he was a rage-aholic. Mom had some mental health issues, and left college when she was young. She didn't admit to it to me that I can remember. She didn't seem to know how to comfort me,even though she had been through mental health issues. My sister had moved out of the house around the same time that I went to military school. She was going to college. BF |

Hi,
We do not have to forgive people who have done us harm. Sometimes when we forgive people for what they did to us, we are pretending to ourselves that it was not really that bad. In other words, we dismiss the truth. We can find other ways of releasing our own anger and resentment as we work towards healing ourselves. M |

That almost sounds like he had a death wish. Wow. He was intent on self-destruction. So sorry. Dear Bobby, It is hard to imagine an adult -- let alone a father -- trying to make a child cry. That is horrible. M |

Hi Mari. I'm trying to forgive him,and am open also to other ways of therapy. This type of thing is probably why my nurse practitioner said I need a trauma therapist when I saw her the last time. I told her,and I have felt many times in my life, shattered inside.
I thank you for your ideas, and suggestions. BF |
