A note from a doctor???
Could he not see the wound??? This teacher has obviously lost common sense. So what if the "rules" say he needs a note. It's obvious Derrick's not faking anything. I don't understand why people in authority sometimes feel the need to be jerks just because they can. This is making me angry, too. I'm sorry, I'm not helping you. Could the ER you went to maybe fax a note for tomorrow? |

It is just for some reason this particular teacher is usually understanding. We none of us understand what is going on with him right now. We don't have to worry about tomorrow or Thursday. He is supposed to go to work. And if they are on a 2 hour delay as I'm expecting. Derrick will not be going to school, my choice. I wont put him through that again. And Wednesday he has a doctor's appt with his neuro, and its the only day of the week this particular doctor is in Lafayette Indiana. So he will not be complaining or I will be going over his head this time. Anyway, I haven't said a thing with any of the things he has said. But Derrick wanted to do the power lifting this year. And now I'm not sure he will try to do it. He has been working all year. And I'm afraid this may take it for him to stop trying. I don't want him to and so far I've gotten him to wait and decide. I would raise holy h3ll!! The strength teacher acts out when the special ed teacher is not there!! ?? I hope for Derrick's sake this gets worked out. You have a good way of handling this stuff. You have more patience and better ways to work with people than I do. M Last edited by Mari; 01-22-2013 at 03:50 AM. |

The problem is he probably would have done this either way. See this is a class that two special ed teachers are at. On swimming days. And Derrick's Aide is technically in charge of him. If she had a idea at all this would have happened. I'm pretty sure she wouldn't have required him and the girl that was technically in the same boat to come down there. But it might have happened. Because sometimes they don't have a choice. Ugh, I feel so bad. But he is strength training teacher and we will not have this issue again. donna |

Dear Donna,

.... not to mention, good for Derrick, and the other kids who are affected by this teacher's ill behavior! I really hope everything gets sorted out for the best, for everyone. If that strength training teacher has some personal stuff going on, I hope he agrees to get help, too, so he doesn't take it out on the kids. Let us know how all this works out. ~ waves ~ |

My problem is derrick would be really upset if I said anything.
So I will just use my judgement, and make sure nothing ever happens again like this. I can easily go and remove him from school before 7th hour starts. I can make up and appointment, if he makes me do so. Derrick has never before this requested to not do something. And this particular teacher make sure he did the requested thing not to do. So I will take my cue from my son. And usually I can count on the aide and teacher making sure he is covered. So today he is at work, and its no problem. Tomorrow he has a doctor's appt and it covers both hours. And If I forget his note, then its just to bad. I personally don't care. But he does, and usually doesn't forget. Or ask that we call and get one. donna |

Donna,
Is Derrick aware that his teacher and the school are probably violating federal law? Mari |

How would they be violating federal law? Okay now the interesting today. Derrick was in a accident today on the school bus going to work. He is fine. Also as I was pretty sure. The lady who has always been in charge of his program at the shelter was very upset that he was bite. But it seems that he was not supposed to be doing what the girl had him doing. So now it seems also the girl technically got someone else hurt the next day too. Donna |

I wondered if that was what you meant Mari.
I've been trying to figure out if I had grounds on that. I don't know if I do. And with his teacher being out sick during that day. She had no idea what happened. It also would put some problems with a good relationship between the two of them. So its hard to ask her to jeopardize their relationship. So I'm working on what I can do. donna |
