Heart Donna i think the special ed teacher needs to know, and that it will be fine

Donna,

First, I too am very glad Derrick came out of that accident ok.

as for the special ed teacher and her relationship with the strength training teacher, i don't think you need worry. she is a professional. i'm sure she can handle it. it is part of her job and skillset to develop and maintain positive rapports with members of the staff. i do not see that you would be jeopardizing anything at all.

To the contrary, I do believe she needs to know it happened. I would just talk to her about the incident openly, as something that is relevant to her. i The only thing i would not do, is i would not present it as something the guy was trying to "get away with in her absence." That is an interpretation, and we don't know if the guy would have maybe blown a gasket that day anyway. You expressed a great deal of surprise at his behavior in your first post.

The special ed teacher may very well be able to take up the issue and ensure nothing similar happens again (even if she were out sick). And she might well be able to do so without even raising a ruccus. the fact she has a good relationship with that teacher will only be of help to her in this.

I would not think of it as ratting out one friend to another friend, or making one be piggy in the middle. Even if they are friendly, these folks are professionals first. they have roles and responsibilities. These include fostering a supportive student environment. One of the special ed teacher's roles is that of a mediator of sorts. And she has specific training for this. Give her the chance to work her mojo.

my 2c.

Yes Waves you are correct.

She should be back from her days off tomorrow maybe.

She will have been off at least almost a week.

So she will have a bet to make it through.

But I will see what she has to say.

I'm glad you have encouraged Derick to put off making a final decision about the lifting until the trauma of the yelling blows over.
