Hi,
Did the doc check for zinc? The copper and zinc ratio needs to be appropriate. I doubt that flouride caused his bipolar. Is he home with you and is he accepting your help? The two best things he can do is exercise outside in the sun (depending on your weather) and get enough sleep at night. Mari |

Hi,
Here is a web site that explains the importance of sleeping in the dark for people with mania. Science does not know what causes bipolar. They are studying epigenetics. http://www.newscientist.com/article/...-disorder.html Quote:
The book Lights Out does not directly with bipolar but it does talk about the importance of sleeping in the dark. http://www.amazon.com/Lights-Out-Dav.../dp/0615427359 Mari |

You might also explore Pyroluria. This is a very low B6 low zinc condition that causes mental symptoms when severe. The mood swings can resemble bipolar disorder.
Here is a link: http://drkaslow.com/html/pyroluria.html Not all doctors believe in this, but we have seen people on the forums in the past who improved significantly when their B6 and Zinc were normalized. High copper levels can indicate low zinc status. (they are a dual pair and affect each other). Low zinc status also leads to hair loss. Stress can tip a person into an attack of pyroluria. They also tend to self medicate with alcohol due to anxiety issues. I'd get the testing done. It is fairly benign if the proper doses of B6 and zinc and used, and the other drugs won't be necessary at all once correction is done.

yes..I've read about Pyluria. His symptoms seemed like copper so I had his hair tested and his copper was high. Now I also suspect fluoride because he was exposed to it.

Pyroluria seems to be something that we would have noticed earlier. This was a healthy child who was a straight A student and did not have senistivity issues...had lots of friends was away at school. Had an even temperment his whole life. Nothing bothered him. Came home from college and strarted acting strange isolated himself..started hearing voices. Became a vegan which made it worse they say. diet low in zinc and high in copper. His adrenals and thyroid are extremely low and not working right. His calcium is high. He did not have uneven fat distribution. All of a sudden he started losing his hair. Also copper symptoms have a lot of body hair but lose the hair on their heads which is what is happening to him. I heard excessive fluoride cause you to retain aluminum.
