Heart I hope you can keep that house.

Dear Ginnie,

I will say prayers for you and your beautiful home.

I am glad you have the carpenter house-mate. In the worst of scenarios, he could whip up a lean-to for you guys from a fallen palm! I should not joke about these things. It's just nice that he could help out not only with recovery expenses since he's employed, but also directly with fixup in the case of some minor or even moderate storm damage.

Take care. I don't want to say you should or should not do something, but I would real happy to see you hang onto it.

Default hi waves

My house mate is Dennis. He said we could at least get one room together. My neighbors and I are talking alot about this. I think in the case of a real storm like Sandy or Katrina, this neighborhood is going to pull together. Keep the good thoughts coming this way. Our storm season is definately scarry. Nobody who has a home here, who have been here for 15 years or more wants to move either. It's a chance game, in which I hate to play but love being here. Thanks for the good wishes waves. xxxginnie

Red face

IT sounds like you have good neighbors and a great house mate. he doesn't want you to sell because he would have to leave and he must love it there too.
sounds like you will be going bare. I could never afford to live there.
I send good thoughts for a peaceful season for you. and all of the gulf coast folks out there including us!

Ginnie

I totally understand the not wanting to move. And not being able to
afford the insurance.

Hoping you decide to not sell too. Sounds like its perfect for you.

Unhappy hot and sweaty blech blech blech

blech!

daytime temps in 90's!

it was supposed to start getting cooler as of tomorrow but the forecast says temps stationary outside of local showers. they also mis-forecast the degree of heat we got - it got a lot hotter. my dad came home today and said it was 104 - now i don't know if that was from an in-town thermometer because the weather station online data shows a high of about 96 for today. but he had to see something that gave him that temp!

next week the forecasts say we are back in the 70's, ha! if only! ! i'm not holding my breath.

... although maybe i should... body-temp air might well be cooler than the air to come!

Mari, would you send me some of your excess RAIN?

Weather's been crazy Waves. I bet it was temp was one of those near a lot of asphalt. They make our temps read higher. I like having a thermometer in my car. It warns me if its near freezing that he roads will be bad and if I am in the air conditioned car and the outside is 90*.
We had the 70's this past week now the at or near 90* the next several days. Hoping ds will fill the pool FINALY. Always an excuse.
Enjoy the cooler break.

It get's way to hot this time of year, and everyone, and their pets need air conditioning in the cars. Newer cars need more air conditioners then the old cars did. Some of the cars like a 1965 Galaxy XL that I had, have those side windows that would open inward, and the air would blow in big time. BF

Heart a break in the weather, whew

That makes perfect sense to me, because of the heat reverb. I found out though, where the reading came from - my mom saw it from the bus on her way home. It was displayed on a highrise building off the highway. There is a lot of asphalt in that area - lots of buildings, so maybe that's why. There are often high readings off that thermometer. We had close to 90* inside the apartment though. AGHHHHHH... *choke, splutter.

LOL... That does sound nice! I hope you all enjoy that!

Thanks! We finally did get some cooler air today... today we had a pretend-sprinkle and it dropped into the eighties again. Now, at 3 am, it is about 70 outside and dead on 80 in here - I am comfortable with all the windows open and the fan on. Might even give the fan a break for a while.

I tried to find a cheapie pool membership nearby, just for summer, to help me get non-impact exercise and cool off, but the one in town doesn't advertise any "open" hours. I can't afford a course, and would not want one even if I could! I just want pool access to do laps. The nearest pool that offers this isn't real close - I'm not so comfortable taking the bus home afterwards, half dripping, etc.

Default Happy Summer Solstice!

The Google doodle alerted me to the Summer Solstice.

June 21 is the first day of summer.

Long hours of daylight only slowly fading into darkness make the summer solstice a day worth savoring. If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, take a moment to admire this seasonal and astronomical turning point before the nights grow longer again. In the meantime, the warmest days of summer are just arriving – even as the sun begins to spend ever less time in the sky.

Hi Mari,

I just saw this! Looks like you posted the above 1 about when I was posting the thread! LOL!

I tried all sorts of google accesses but I cannot get the doodle for this location. Wahhh. I finally found a picture of it in the Washington Post article.
