Yes, I saw this recently too - for the first time, actually!

It was truly a beautiful movie, Steve!

Hey Waves. I agree. In so many ways this movie has got heart, talent, sentimentality, the excitement of one finding her talent, and going to achieve her dream,Mr.Hollands deaf son's life gets better, and one man touching so many peoples lives.

With one teacher touching so many lives,it almost compares with,"It's a Wonderful life"in which Jimmy Stewart's character touches a whole town of people so that they all where better off with his life touching theirs, and making them better people.

Imagine the ripple affect of love, and good deeds going forward. BF

Wow, Steve!!

That is a powerful analysis - and so true!

I like your comparison to Jimmy Stewart's "It's a Wonderful Life" ... there is a similar trend in the two movies.

Even though the former is an "all time great" though, I think I enjoyed "Mr. Holland's Opus" even more. I don't know if it is just a personal preference, or a question of it being more contemporary (enabling me to relate to it more closely). I kind of don't think it's about the time period, because I really love a lot of old (read: B/W) movies.

Have to run now... but I'm enjoying this thread Thanks
