Lightbulb Really Motivated Now

Doug has on occassion more than once expressed the desire to get a pet. Some of the residents here have pets even though we are not suppose to. If I can get the management to agree to let Doug have a kitten that is litter box trained I plan to go to the animal shelter and do just that and give it to Doug. First though I'll take pictures of different kittens or cats for Doug to be able to pick and choose from and then go get it if the one he picks out is still there. I'll ask Doug to choose a few just in case.

That is soooooooooooooo sweet of you. I'm sure he will appreciate it too.

Have fun at the shelter, there are so many pets that need homes, I am glad to hear that one may be finding a home soon!!!!

There is always the Humane Society too.

Hugs, Nikko

I hope this works out for you and I sure hope that Doug enjoys it.

And I'm so glad that you are getting a kitten from the shelter. There's so many there on death row.

Dear Befuddled,
Go slowly on the cat.

Even though he has expressed interest, it doesn't meet that he can deal with a cat right now. He already has a lot going on.

I love dogs, but if someone gave me a puppy/dog, I would have to give it back -- too much work for me. I can't have an extra creature in the house beyond hubby and me right now....too draining...not enough energy....

I know that your heart is in the right place.
Think of the kitty. It needs to go to a home where the person can deal with it and appreciate it.

Default Here Kitty Kitty

Hi BF,
As a mom of now FIVE cats, I have to tell you the plus side is the way the may cuddle up to you and lay on your lap, playful kitten tricks. BUT, the scooping poopy and litter clumps, cost of litter is a lot, buying food, even the bag stuff if they eat it, you have to buy in a HUGE bag to be cost effeciant. The other problem is when they are sick or get fleas.

De's middle cat is having bladder or kidney problems. A month ago she was peeing blood, a doc visit and medicine was $75,00. Our older cat Mr kitty, has had blocked bladder three times and each was over $600. The last one was over $1,000. He is Persian Hymilayan.

Last year they had fleas, it was $90. for one round of flea treatment for the 5 of them. I needed a second round for two cats. I has to sweep every carpet, every day for the eggs, as if you step on them, they break open and a flea hatches. The windows where they lay and their bedding too. It took a month to get rid of all of them. Mild winter was said to be the reason they were so bad last year.

I love them dearly, but the house smells like litter box no matter what I do, I need three boxes now for them, I was thinking of the cat toilet that flushes and washes itself, but it is $300 and is not good for multiple cats??? I had a litter maid, auto scooper, it broke form the over use of two cats.

They jump on the table when we don;t look, caught the butter dish uncovered and someone had lapping marks on it and jumped down as I walked in.

Tigger has allergies and needs shots in the spring, Scarlett has problems with the **** glands and they burst, needing top be cleaned and powdered treated big time. $$$$$

Once we bought "store" flea stuff and De's three went into convulsions, poisoned, and were treated at Kitty ER and had Iv's transfered to reg. vet in the morning. It took days of treatment with valium and IV's to stabelize..$$$$$

As much as I love them, I just will never have another one. In fact I never bought these, two older ones were De's from when she stilll lived at home. The other three were her rescued cats.

It hurts me when the pass away. I had my mother in laws cat when she passed away and when he got old and passed away it upset me. Oh, twice he had a tumor grown on the tip of his ear like a grape size I had to get taken off...$$$$$$

Just as a multiple cat owner I have had the love 5 times over, cost five time over and 5 pounds of poopy scoped every DAY, LOL.

I would not surprize him , talk it over deeply and if he thinks now is not the time revisit it when he is up to midnight scopes of stinky poop.

I had bought a fountain drinking fountain, De's cats drove me batty with wanting the sink on for fresh running water to drink. I wish I could have found an on/off faucet for them as even the elec fountain needs filters and scrubed every week. BE nice to toilet train them too!

I guess I am getting old and this is A LOT of cats. no one would go out and have FIVE, even though I love them dearly.
(Oh rabies shots, distemper and the yearly shots, deworming, heartworm shot and boosters for feline lukemia, is about $100 a cat.

I think the personality of each one is unique, some are lap cats, one a hunter, one caught a mouse once, the youngest hides all the time except when only we are home. Mr Kitty likes to look pretty, adn he is, know it. The older three paw down the door to go outside ever Am and night, Scarlette sits in the window tweeting to the birds.
Lots of pleasure and lots of work.

Hope that you all can get one and work it out for the pleasure of the little thing.
Hugs
Di

Wink Well

Hi Bizi,
It is a ton of work and expense, but I keep saying they could be three children and then would I have the work. I just wish the loveable creatures could turn ona faucet and flush a potty, lol.

Gee I heard about pet insurance, I spend more on them then our family total.
Thanks for asking,
Di
PS anyone know a trick for litter odor, I scoop all day, but still can smell when I walk in the front door....
Oh, somebody is not holding until the liter box and I found tinkle on the floor by the downstairs door near litter box. Bi-level and I keep their box in the third bath down there. (I suspect the kitty with bladder infection).
