Trig Be careful when you go to Facebook.

The reason why I'm saying that is because recently I've noticed that when I go there,it feeds my fears, and destroys my peace of mind. I need to just skim through FB to find out if my family,or relatives have said anything. Shame on the fear mongering groups on there.

Do you all get the same topics that I do on Facebook? I think that I should not pay very much attention to Facebook when it does it's(((Scare you thing))). I need to resist these fearful posts on FB.

Commercials have gotten very negative when they talk about meds, and side affects. These kinds of commercials have, and are becoming a problem. When I hear ten,or fifteen scary things on these commercials time, and again,it's deflating. Many things on tv shows have gone down hill. TV shows are changing all across the Cable/Sat. spectrum. When was the last time that you saw History on the History channel? It's becoming like that on many channels now,and I'm watching TV that I like on my computer. BF

BF

The only sites of fear as you say I allow on my page. Are the local
TV and newspaper links. Reason I allow those is sometimes
there is something I need to know that I don't.

But I ignore the negative, read almost all only the positive, feel good stories. I did read an article about maybe Ebola being in an hospital close by. But I felt I needed to stay on top of that on.
It was an false alarm, which they posted right as they found out.

Make some changes to your Facebook.

1 Get rid of Every Single negative friend, relative, or group. (UnFriend).
They are gone.

2. Go to "Pages Feed."
"Unfollow" whatever stuff you are following

3 Go to "News Feed."
"Unfollow" whatever stuff you are following

Anytime anything shows up on Facebook you can choose one of these things:

~I don't wat to see this
~Unfollow

[QUOTE=Brokenfriend;1103576] When was the last time that you saw History on the History channel? QUOTE]

lol That is so true. When History Channel started, they showed documentaries about, you know, history stuff. Now, it's hours and hours of shows about contemporary hillbillies. (Boring, because, for me, it's like watching home movies. ) The criteria seems to be, "It was filmed last week, so it's history, right?" These days, a MASH rerun is as close as that channel comes to anything historical. Pathetic.

A&E is the same. When it started, it was supposed to provide higher cultural content. Yeah, I can see how a show about people fighting over the contents of storage lockers is equivalent to watching a performance of Hamlet by the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Like you, I watch a lot of excellent documentaries on YouTube. What period(s) interest you, especially? Maybe we could swap recommendations.

Hey Hockey. I've been looking at episodes of the 1995-2000, "The Outer limits". I like science fiction. To me science fiction should have some space adventures, but they don't show them anymore either. The Sci-fi channel is now the syfy channel, and it's gone down hill like allot of these other cable shows have. They even show wrestling on the syfy channel.

Some of the best movies have been shown, over, and over, and over again. It seems like we see the same movies over a period of two,to three years. Then they bring back some older ones, and show them over, and over, and over again.

I mean really!!! Do they think that we don't notice? BF

My hubby is a huge SciFi fan. Have you ever seen the old British series Sapphire and Steel? It's posted on YouTube. It has cheap production values, and a slow start, but if you stick with it, it is very much scifi for thinking people. It stars the incomparable Joanna Lumley.

The 60s scifi series The Invaders, is also worth a look, but I'm not sure if it's still on YouTube.

The old Twilight Zone had a lot of scifi themed episodes, too. There's a fascinating one with Agnes Moorehead that has almost no dialogue.

As for old films, the Day the Earth Stood Still and the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers are both brilliant.
