Thumbs down Spring Fever

This must be Spring Fever time. With the absence of cold weather,we seem to have a sudden summer. It's 70 degrees after midnight here, and the humidity has risen on my weather instruments in the last week.

They both are a double whammy. Also the tree pollen is very active right now. All of these things can cause sleepiness. Our medications can cause further sleepiness.

The NOAA Climate Prediction Center has issued an El Nino watch for the Summer of 2014. The El Nino is a weather condition where warm ocean temperatures happen off the Pacific coast of South America. It would mean rain for California which they need. Here in the South it affects the jet stream(Narrow air currents in the atmosphere)making the region more susceptible to severe weather events.

I hope that we do not have a El Nino weather pattern this summer. Our Winter was ruff enough on us. We could use a break. BF

Steve,

Sorry about the allergies.
I do not deal with them so I do not know about what precautions one takes or how one deals with them. Do you stay inside when they are bad?
My sister gets them -- about twice a year they get worse.

Forecasters are predicting a light-ish hurricane season this year -- but two years in a row the predictions were wrong.

BF,
Unfortunately our Bureau of Meteorology in Australia has warned us this week that the chance of
a strong El Nino by July is higher than 70%, so status for us here is El Nino Alert.

Thanks, Steve, for that weather news which I was searching for online this morning.
Even though 3000 miles away from the Best Coast, I still try to keep up with the weather there daily. I guess it's still a habit and i still care. So thanks.

Lara, I am glad for your weather related news there as well. I keep hoping that El Niño
won't actually develop. Everyone needs a break from the extreme weather. : )

I look at it this way. It's like the cycle of life.

It's either flooding rain or it's a drought.
