Default Back to europe I go... sigh

I am on the plane in Orlando. Take off is delayed due to a ground stop at Kennedy. We do not have wifi yet but I am riding some whatever airport one that picks me up for free. I think it's a delta one that is safe but I'm not putting in any passwords with it just in case.

So the trip went well. Bittersweet, kind of as expected in a way. I mean, I just didn't know which parts would be bitter and which sweet, or how much of each.

I got to connect with most of my friends, and with new people. That was wonderful. With my old friends, I found that we did still have our old connection, and just kind of refreshed it. We still had the same ways of being with each other. It was very nice.

I have to take distance from one. He is into crazy-making. He didn't used to, or maybe he did and I didn't see it and took it. I sure am seeing some now though and I won't take that. I took enough of that from my ex, they can keep that nonsense. I don't know if it is a phase, or something purposeful (I don't think so) or what. I don't think these kinds of things tend to go away though, so it saddens me because the distance is necessary for my own well being and I suppose it will have to be permanent.

I had some really cool experiences with children. I have never been around children so much, and indeed was glad for my room with a door and lock -- I only took them in small doses. But I got to see how they are 24/7 which I hadn't before. Human interaction at its most basic. The two younger ones that acted like a miniature couple out of a 30's film were especially adorable.

I am ready to get home and unpack. Put away, put away, put away. Have shower, wear fresh jammies, sleep in own bed. Not chase down things. Not borrow things. Look for job and make money so I can live better.

I have to put up the computer soon... I guess they are re-boarding.

Thanks, Bizi and Donna.

Yes the small childrem were an eye-wide-opener. You really need to be an octopus with eyes on every tentacle to keep after them, whew! Boy! Two seconds looking the wrong way and.... *CRASH* .... Cell phone on ground in multiple pieces. (Back came off, nothing actually broke, but the back being off was useful for convincing the 2-year old that something bad had happened.)

I am home now. Flight was good. Shorter on the way back. I was sick during the night before leaving (as in threw up), so could not take full advantage of the first class food this time. Dang, coz they had shrimp appetizer and beef tenderloin for dinner.

That's ok, it was worth it to go out with my friends the night before. We went to Chili's they had two for one happy hour..... .

Heart Grateful that the last leg of the trip went well

Oh, Waves.

You made the round trip.
Quite a trip.

I am happy that you experienced time with your friends
and being "back."

Good luck settling into your regular "home."

I am curious how the time change works.
If someone is a "night owl," does it work out best for them to travel the earth
East to West and be a little bit in sync with the sleep habits of the locals?

I am guessing that going from West to East is more difficult.
(Silly Question perhaps but something I have often pondered --
both in the abstract and in the practicalities of trying to live a
life that could accommodate Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome (DSPS).

Thanks. It really was phenomenal.

Yeah... working on that. Showered and hair washed, now. Feeling a little better that way. My parents had a medical appointment so I made them a quickdinner too. I cannot eat. My mother will wash up.

I smoked so much I think I set myself back all the way and then some on my gastro problem. ACK! I went about 30 hours eating almost nothing (got exactly 3 almonds down before I gave up on the idea).

I find the time change easier East to West, yes. Probably even if one is not a night owl, that might be true.

In my case, the travel was harder East to West but that's entirely route-dependent. I had to go through security twice, and pick up and recheck my bags between flights, which was physically strenuous. (I pulled a muscle in my back/hip/side). Then, one must wait 6 extra hours past their bed time before it's actually bed time. But one can always go to bed "early" on the first few nights. It did work out for me I was going to bed around midnight i.e., 6am "my" time, at first. I didn't have jetlag, in that sense, even though I was sleep deprived from missing a couple of nights sleep.

Mari
Going West to East, if you get to sleep on the plane, it can work out well. Otherwise, a normal person will wind up "feeling" bedtime at say 6 am, when omg there is the whole day ahead. Being a night owl shifts it forward more, which is better, but you don't go into it rested like the person who sleeps at night.
