If she is on a 1200 calorie diet, wonder how many fruits and veggies that should be?

Bizi,

Five fruits and veggies a day or ----- Roughly: 1 cup fruit and 1 ½ cups veggies.
But she can eat more veggies if she skips some of the grains.
1200 is very low. She should be eating more like 1500 or so depending on her height and age and how sedentary /active she is. Then she can eat more.
Here is a calculator.

1200-1500 calories is right.

Bizi,

I hope that you have a good evening.

Here is a link to calorie/carb/protein info that is fairly close for the Nutri System stuff.

http://members.nutrisystem.com/Tips-...10_story2.aspx

Maybe she wants to eat that stuff to somehow save some money and save time.

Real food is better most of the time -- it is up to her.

M

bizi 03-26-2015 10:41 PM

you are right, she doesn't want to waste her money on the food. It just the nutrisystem wants her to eat 6 times a day. And her schedule won't allow for that.
I looked at some of the foods. muffins and stuffed potatoes...I can't relate to that because I don't eat that type of foods.
We went to a noodle house tonight with our guest. I had a seafood pho soup. it was really good but not much seafood so I am feeling peckish...think I will go make myself a smoothie.

I have been listening to the music of les miserable, and I just finished reading up on the plot and such. We see it at our auditorium next month. The music is just beautiful.

Hi, Bizi,

That six meals a day rule is the stupidest thing in the world.
It is a shame that those programs do not let people learn their body's rhythm and what works for them.
I do not eat breakfast and only eat lunch three times a week. The other days I basically have a good sized dinner a snack close to bed time.

Les Mis is powerful. I saw some of the movie version on tv last year.
I hope that you enjoy it.:)

Hubby loves chicken Pho!!!
When the people who run his current restaurant see him coming in the door, they know to bring him lots of extra veggies/greens.:D
The day we got married eleven years ago, we stopped to buy take out Pho on the way home.
So that is one of our memories.

I hope that you are well. Keep taking care.

next time I think I will get the shrimp pho as I did not like the clams still in their shells nor the little seafood balls. The one shrimp that was in there was good. Don't know what kind of noodle was in there, kind of flat, maybe rice???
It was very good over all and yes I like to add the veggies to the soup. cilantro basil purple cabbage...yum!
It was lot of noodles so not really on my diet but hey...this diet has to be flexable and one big bowl of noodles is not going to ruin my dieting efforts.
I was 146 yesterday morning.
so am happy about that. Have lost 15 pounds in 3 months time.

The 6 small meals a day. IS something a diabetic is also told is best.
But I remember telling the person doing my class. That it wasn't
possible with my schedule.

She said, that I could do 4 meals if possible. And then have a snack
during the afternoon. When possible. I still can't get the 4 meals
down anymore.

But I need a refresher course on the whole thing.

Donna,

The diabetic educators make the whole thing confusing.

The short version is that if you eat fewer calories /less food you will:

lose weight

and

lower blood sugar

-->> Eat the number of meals that fit into your day --- whatever works for you.

I ate a lot today for dinner:
After the guitar competition we met up back home. We have a friend staying with us and I had driven separately since I worked late. Met there at 6pm. Then headed home to meet up to go for dinner, crawfish during lent on a friday meant it would be a long wait to be seated.
(or so we thought)
So I had a cup of tabouli, big glass of milk and a pear.
When we got there there wasn't a wait at all.
Then I proceeded to eat half a dozen char broiled oysters and my usual max's special. Steamed veggies with crawfish ettoufee and cheese broiled served in a casserole dish.
YUMMY!
But I am so full.
The guys went over to a friends house to have a fire out side because it is nice out tonight. I will be going to the gym to walk on the tred mill in a little bit, will wait a while because I am so full.
Great dinner!!!!

Bizi,

It sounds like a great evening, esp the gym.

thanks mari.
I just got home from the gym. walked my usual hour on the tred mill 3.5 mph.
Am worried. The upper shin area just below my knee cap is irritated. I hope that this is not the beginning of shin splints.
I did not do anything differently.
What did i do wrong?

Stop using the incline and stop holding on to the rails:

Walking too quickly on too high an incline alters the gait into an exaggerated heel strike that can cause shin splints.
Also, take a good look at your shoes. It might be time for a new pair:

I went to bed early yesterday at 6pm, needed to sleep was so tired. slept awful the night before had been up till 2am then awake at 8. not enough sleep for me. Hubby came home from his music gig( sky liners big band music) at 11;15 so got up and took night meds then back to bed and got up at 5;30 this morning, cup of coffee. going to go get the paper in my jammies, hubby hates that oh well, don't care if anyone sees me.
I need to do taxes today..I have procrastinated long enough!
I finished the preliminary part just need to enter all of the data..just do it!
up a few pounds, due to not drinking enough water and being constipated. I did not eat my veggies like I do during the week. Not good had some cabbage slaw yesterday and then pizza for dinner.
Had blood work drawn yesterday. am hoping my total cholesterol has come down. since exercising my ldl should be down and the hdl should be down after not drinking for 64 days.
They will email the results to me in a couple of days.

Mari 03-31-2015 02:55 AM

Dear Bizi,
Did you get more sleep since you posted?

You blood results will provide good information from you. :heartthrob:

Cabbage cole slaw has lots of calories and bubby always keeps some in the house because he likes it. Finally, I have started getting used to pretending not to see it.

Mari

bizi 03-31-2015 07:06 AM

up early at 6;15, drinking that first cup of coffee. needed to get up early to take a ....
shower....sigh
Went to the gym last night at 8 pm, met with julie.
We did some abs exercises which I find hard, a plank for only 45 seconds is really hard. side crunches using a 10 pound weight. A couple weight machines.
Walked on the tred mill for 5 minutes warm up then walked /jogged at 5 mph for 30 minutes then 10 minutes fast on the arc trainer which is like a stair master/eleptical really sweat then a 5 minute cool down.
So a good work out.
at 930pm I went to the grocery store, hardly anyone there they close at 10pm. so was able to get my groceries and check out in half an hours time. so that was good. Like not having to deal with people /parking during the day.
Hattie is crying this morning to get treats (jeff gives her treats, i tried giving them to her but she continues crying so I give up)so I close the inner door so she won't wake jeff up but she drives me crazy with her incessant crying! It is guttural at times...sigh.
I am on my second cup of coffee and the paper awaits my attention.
Jeff will be up soon.
It has been nice getting up earlier, read on line stuff then read the paper, making a fresh pot of coffee.
day 68 alcohol free, weighed 147 this morning! I weigh 164...just 10 weeks ago, (1-12-15), I could not have done this still drinking!
Have a great day!
