Poor kitty! :( Poor Jeff! :( There was no way he could know if the cat would be saved, could only try or not try. He tried! He was very brave! I am really glad he was not hurt!!! :o
:hug::hug::hug: |
Thanks waves, he is a very lucky man!
I have a real dilemma going thru my head right now. I miss drinking. Tonight is art walk. Hubby is playing at the fiddle shop on the main street with a colleague of his. Many of the galleries will be open and provide free snacks and usually wine. Tonight is the kids night where there will be all kinds of student art works displayed. So it is fun seeing all of the youngsters works of art. I have been in years past and it is fun. How ever I don't want to walk alone. Hubby has this commitment to the fiddle shop, they are playing their pieces twice. So he will be tied up there. It is a gorgeous day and really would like to go and do the art walk. Just don't know if I want to go hang out with jeff at the fiddle house. just talked with him am going to ride with him there but will do art walk by myself. I can resist all of the free wine. I don't really like wine that much. bizi |

Sending thoughts to Jeff, and the owners of the cat.
Have fun at the art walk. Donna :grouphug: |
thank you.
went to the art walk and went to the big gallery (ACA acadiana center for the arts)and spent almost 2 hours just looking thru the kids art work. Loved being there by myself actually, just my pace etc. IT was easy to find the fiddle shop again half block away, came back and listened to jeff and Mike play their 2nd set so good timing. I even recorded their last tune and posted it on face book. They had fun. Jeff rode back with Mike to his house for a few beers. We ate an early dinner at 5 so I am starting to get snacky. I am still dieting less restrictive now that I am at a better weight. Maybe I will snack on some nuts? I have been chewing gum all night avoiding the alcohol and my jaws hurt. oh well...I am still AF so made it thru an art walk. bizi |
Good Job, Bizi. :)
|
I agree. Well done, bizi.

got up early today, my right shoulder that i sleep on was bothering me so decided to get up.
Ate some left over BBQ pulled pork that was left over from out trip to texas road house, yummy! Full of calories and salt I am sure of that. But It HAD to be eaten!!!! LOL Think I will do some paper work that I have been avoiding. Had my friend susan over for a quick dinner friday night. I feel so badly for her. Her depression is worse. She told me that she hated herself. I honestly don't know how to help her. I listen and try to ground her, she feels that she has no future....I told her to think about the here and now. She has intrusive negative thoughts that continually erode her self esteem and worth. She is juggling 3 part time jobs. One in the framing department. another at a nursery and then she is in the symphony, so there are rehearsals and concerts. Yesterday she was gone the most of the day for a gig at a casino, music of the band the eagles. I would have liked that but it was far away from here and would have gone by myself, which I did not want to do. She was riding in the car there with a friend that has been somewhat supportive to her initially but backed off. I asked susan to really talk with her again, she needs as many support people as possible. Her husband doesn't get it. And has told me as much. She keeps trying different meds to try to help and none have helped her or they have side effects that she doesn't like. She has not been sleeping. Do you have any advice? bizi WE go to a support group meeting twice a month thru NAMI called connections. there is a family meeting that goes on in the other room for loved ones to attend. I asked her to ask her husband to go. Think I will mention it to him. WE are going over there for mothers day. Paul is BBQing salmon on the grill. I bought a big container of fresh fruit, she requested that. on to my 3rd cup of coffee, paperwork and a shower is in the immediate future. bizi |
Bizi
No advice for your friend. But I think your asking her husband to go to the group for family members might be good. My mom has always gone to theirs in Kokomo. It has really helped her. Donna :grouphug: |
Thanks donna, I think I will mention it to him.

yes she is a paid member of the symphony and her friend is a colleague and friend whom was helping her/being a supportive person. She doesn't have many friends.
WE had dinner over there tonight and had salmon. delicious! I listened and offered support. helped her make some decisions. came home and did some paperwork. Susan is the first person that I have ever had to help support. I have never had a friend in such need. It feels good to help her. She is a hang nail biter too. I told her she needed to put a bandaide on her thumb, bleeding and then to sit on her hands. And she did. I told her that she needed to do cardio at the gym. That it was really important for her mental health. I think she will go tomorrow. bizi |
The gym is a good idea. If she will start this then she has another
outlet for her issues. To get rid of stress and things. Donna :grouphug: |
Bizi, how's that hip of yours feeling?
|
I am going to the gym tonight and walk on the tred mill will test jogging a bit to test the waters.
thanks for asking:o bizi |
I guess that means it is feeling better! Good luck, tonight. I hope it passes the treadmill test! ;):D
|
I walked on the tred mill 65 minutes and it did not feel any worse.
so maybe it just needs some time. my heart rate only got up to 114 bpm.....Did not sweat a drop:( next time I go I will use the arc trainer to do a cardio work out and spare my hips the jarring from jogging. Saw an old friend, nice to speak with her a bit. Need to look on you tube to see if I can find examples of different stretches: psoas, piriformus pigeon stretch. bizi |
That's a good start, Bizi. Be patient though, and give it the time it needs.
114 bpm is still well above resting pulse... contributes to maintenance of stamina. Good idea to do cardio some other way like the arc trainer. :) |
looked at the pigeon stretch and I tried to do it. It is a yoga pose.
First of all I was afraid that I would not be able to get off the floor. so I gently tried to get into the position and could not. oh well I am out of shape....I knew this. these don't even look like the right kind of stretches, it is a hip flexor one. hubby is calling me to watch the x-files. so off I go. with time I am noticing my hip more. bizi |
Quote:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVlX5HNKamw Here is a yoga version of Pigeon. It might be helpful whether or not it is exactly specific to what is going on with your hip. I hope your hip gets better. Have you tried icing it. ? M |
Bizi,
Sorry to say, but I don't know that stretching is the best thing right now. Not that it can't be, but how do we know? Generally, stretching is helpful for over-contraction issues, or for rehabilitation purposes. Of course, it's generally good when healthy, but that isn't the case here. I think before attempting major therapeutic maneuvers like this, you need to find out what, precisely is going on with hip, not just the location of the going-on. I would not be stretching if there's a pulled anything. If there's even a small injury to muscle, tendon, or ligament, rest would probably be best. Stretching could aggravate the problem, the more so if, as you seem to indicate, you don't have the general flexibility to perform the exercise: healthy tissues will resist more, while any damaged tissues will be tend to "give" more, thus sustaining more damage! :( Really, seeing a doctor to determine what is wrong would seem the most sensible thing at this point, especially with you being in this intense training program, and chomping at the bit to get back on track (or on tread ;)). waves |
thanks mari and waves.
My hip feels fine this morning! so no harm done! I may go to the gym again tonight to do the arc trainer a cardio work out with out the jarring. think stair masters with eliptycal smoothness. bizi |

Stretching can make something worse --- best to find out what the issue is first. M |
It was recommended to me that I go to see a sports medicine chiropractor that my friends have gone to and she continues to go once a week for treatments. I just don't know if I can afford to go...kind of want to wait and see...I promise to not do anything dumb. I don't want to irritate my hip but don't want to lose the ground cardio wise. It has almost been a week since my last cardio work out.
I hear you about the stretches might be bad for it.... I will be careful I promise. bizi |
I went to the gym and did the arc trainer (think stair master eyliptical low impct self propelled)after attempting to jog for 5 minutes after first walking for 5 minutes. on the tred mmill The jogging felt funny so will not do that. So i swtched to the arc machine and did that. I did the arc trainer and got my heart rate up to 134, so some cardio I sweat alittle.
my hip was achey when I got home after sitting watching an x-files episode. did a stretch, a pigeon stretch and felt good after that. so it just needed stretching out. I can live with this. Will just do the arc trainer for now. my right big toe really hurt, prior injury toward the end of the hour. I just don't see how I will progress at this rate. very discouraged. bizi |
You are doing great!!!

Thank you mari, I am grateful that I have your knowledge and desire to help support me.
Did the modified pigeon stretch this morning and my hip feels fine. I sit in a chair and put my leg over my knee at the ankle then lean forward and it stretches the hip and buttocks and hold for 30 seconds. then switch and do the other hip. Easy to do and don't have to get on the floor! Have a great day! I hope it goes smoothly for you. bizi The discomfort is at the anterior superior iliac crest. I should do the modified pigeon stretch every few hours to stretch my hip. That reminds me to do that now. have a great day and congratulations on the weight loss.Drinking can cause bloating so...it feels good to see the scale drop! bizi I did something impulsively yesterday. I was at a clients house and she has dementia and constantly asks me if I want , coffee, coke, water, ice cream. So I decided to say that I would like some chocolate on my way out of the door. so Her caregiver gave me a big bar of dark chocolate with sea salt and carmel filling. 450 calories! I ate the whole thing in my car on the way back into town. I never do that! Had a pizza last night. Pizza artista where you pickout your toppings and it cooks up quickly. I used a whole wheat crust thin, spicy sauce, spinach and roasted garlic then a layer of cheese, topped with peperoni and carmelized onions and sun died tomatoes, mushrooms, and green peppers then more cheese. Then quickly cooked and topped with fresh basil and pesto drizzle. It was delicious! One pizza filled jeff and I. $10 tax and tip included. YOu can't beat it! They claim to use fresh ingredients, freshly grate their cheese no fillers etc. So when I got on the scale this morning I thought it was going to be higher than it has been wrong..it went down! yes! bizi |
My friend susan is still having a hard time.
Talked her into going to her job today. She felt like she was going to get fired. I told her that they would not do that. encouraged her to eat something and be grateful that she has a job. I volunteered to come over and stay the night. she accepted so am going to go there in a little bit. She is done at work at 9 pm. Her hubby is gone with my hubby and 2 other guys, they go to a condo on the beach at galveston texas for the weekend. Her husband could use the break and I am happy to help susan. She is to work tomorrow from noon to 5. I am hoping that tonight goes well. She is just taking it as it comes up...literally day by day. Her anxiety and negative head talks, intrusive thoughts are just taking over. It is really hard to know what to say to her. Well I had better pack up a bag. computer was wonky earlier today, did a system restore that TOOK FOREVER! but it seems to run smoothly now. thank goodness. bizi |
Bizi,
It is nice of you to help your friend. Enjoy your evening. Does she have insurance so that she can be evaluated for medication? If not, she can probably go to a parish clinic. Mari |
She has been on a medication merry go round.
Is now trying zoloft with another antidepressant that I can't remember what it is called. I made sure she had a good lunch before working today. She works from 12-5. So I am home now and going to read the paper and supposedly go to the gym and then take a shower. I asked her to go out to eat tonight, she will think about it. hope her day goes well. She made a couple of phone calls that she needed to make so am proud of her for that. I will spend the night there again to night. her couch is not comfortable, did not sleep that well. I ate a good lunch too but am already hungry again. Will find something else to eat around here maybe some nuts. Have a good weekend. bizi am going to be careful at the gym, my hip has felt fine, no pain nor discomfort for 2 days...not even stretching any more. Think I will stick to the arc trainer today though. |
I am so happy!
I finally went to home depot and found some shade loving impatience, big planter of them! So I have some pretty flowers to admire every time I go out to my car. Comings and goings! Went to the gym and am very happy to say that my left hip is as normal as can be. Not a twinge! The only thing that bothered me was my right big toe from the prior injury. It started bothering me toward the end of my hour on the arc trainer. I sweat a little so got some cardio work out. wonder how long I should stay on the arc and when I could try jogging again? Wednesday will be 2 weeks from the original onset of "injury". I say it that way because I did not do anything differently. IT was a mysterious injury....which means it can happen again...sigh anyway I am going to take a shower and get ready to go back to susans, hopefully go out to dinner if she will let me pay. I am lazy. I don't feel like cooking. let me get into the shower. bizi still smiling because I found some shade loving plants!!!!!! |
the toe bone is connected to the... hip bone?
Bizi, I had a thought.
Your left hip might have started bothering you because of the prior injury to your right toe. :D Sounds kinda crazy, right? Well, you've mentioned that toe hurting now on several occasions, so I'm thinking you may have have developed an antalgic gait, whereby you shift your weight unevenly towards the side opposite side. It could be mild enough not to cause problems during daily activities, but with the amount of training you've been doing, and mostly in footwork, it could cause noticeable strain (and pain!) in other areas, including the opposite hip. I'd encourage you to sort out if there is anything you can do to prevent pain to that toe... thicker socks, between-toe padding, change in shoes, whatever might work to alleviate your specific toe pain. It might avoid an eventual cascade of problems during training. Anyway, just something to think about. |
I'm glad you found some pretty flowers to decorate with, that you can see in your comings and goings. :):)

Even good meds don't work miracles when the depression is very bad. It takes some time, and rest, even with meds.
This was the person who stopped teaching, right, because she felt she couldn't get through the semester? But now she has 3 part-time jobs? That's a TON of pressure. I don't see how any severely depressed person, or person recovering from depression, could handle that. I could barely handle getting up in the morning. :( Has she had any convalescence time? Some complete rest, say for a month? Couldn't she take a break from working temporarily, maybe just keep the symphony job -- I assume that is a passion for her, so it might help her even if there is some pressure. waves |
No thougths,
did want to say hi. And I think Waves is on to something with your hip and toe. I know when my leg hurts more, I have problems with other parts of body. Not sure why they are connected. But will work on this too, since I need to figure out somethings. Thanks Waves. Donna :grouphug: |
thanks you guys.
That is an interesting thought about my toe and my hip. I am so happy that my left hip is no longer an issue or so it seems. Will just do the arc trainer again monday and then test the waters on jogging on wednesday. Yes my girl friend is the one who quit teaching. She went to a day program monday thru friday from 9-2 for at least 5 weeks. Not sure how helpful it was. It gave her some structure and a reason to get out of bed. Her part time jobs are: 1. framing at hobby lobby 20 hours per week. 2. unknown if she still has a job at the nursery. 3. symphony is once a month with rehersals before the performance. bizi |
help all sorts of computer problems....:(
audio pop ups, high lighted words here that go to spam links... connecting issues. hesitation....awful....sigh bizi kaspersky computer scan says everything is fine but..... we are having major problems! |
ADWARE and possibly malware too. I have a reference for something you can try.... will go back through emails and get back to you in a sec...
If you can't get to the bottom of it fast, I'd take it to someone (a shop, or a friend) who can dx and fix it. Some things may require manual intervention. |
Jefff has a colleague that is a computer guy, he is going to ask him to help us.
the green round connecting icon keeps going round and round and then freezes and can't do anything until it unfreezes, still going round and round. sigh thanks for any help. bizi |
