My laptop had the Wifi card go out , or intermittent and then totally, I thought it was the Linux operating systems versions I was trying, but many had worked before and then none would connect at all to our wifi..
I finally googled the problem and defective/broken wifi card was what came up..
Got a replacement wifi card from a local PC fixit guy and all was good again..

But ift would just say failed to connect, nothing about out of range...

Has it been moved far away from the modem/router?
solid wals will weaken the wifi signals.

any way to test it with cable/wired connection?
does it show no bars on the icon?

There are free anti virus that do work, so if you get it going again, I suggest getting virus protection...
