I think I am going to be okay now, although we will see. It took all day to get my Imitrex, because once again my pharmacy said there was an interaction with my Cymbalta, so I had to call my PCP then she had to call the pharmacy, by the time I got to the pharmacy I was holding my head and in tears. Dirk was with me, so we got other stuff we needed and I just sat in a chair by the pharmacy waiting in severe pain.
![]() ![]() In the car I took a imitrex and reglan, they work pretty fast too. My PCP called in the 500mg tabs of IMITREX for migraines, geeze they only give you 9 of them and my co-pay was $30.00. Better than the $60.00 co-pay for the other migraine meds. I also still have a full script of the furicet. She said to take the imitrex along with the reglan (from the ER) which helps the nausea. I finally had a good night. ![]() I have to see my PCP on Wednesday, they upped my appointment from the 30th of this month. The ER said to follow up with her, and a neurologist, but she wants to see me first. Maybe I won't have to go to a neurologist, then again maybe not. I am going to call my p-doc on Monday to see if she can switch me from Lamictal to Tomapax, which I hate to do, because Lamictal works so well for me. I wonder IF I can stay on the Lamictal 200mg daily and she can just give me a low dosage of Topamax??????????? Or are they both mood stabilizers? Does anyone take both?????????? ![]() Anyway, I feel pretty good, I am even afraid to say that and jinx myself. Took a nice jacuzzi last night in my tub, so relaxing. ![]() Thanks for all your info and support on my other post. Hugs to all, Nikko ![]() |

hi there
Wow, you have been thru the wringer. YOu poor thing...just remember is that if/when you switch mood stabilizers there will be a tapering off period and a tapering up of the new med. Lamictal also has anti depressant qualities to it...so I don't know if you are on an anti depressant or not. I am so glad that you have someone in your life who really cares about you now. is is 125 degree's where you live? It is crazy with the heat and then floods in tx and ok... You know that they say that other planets have global warming effects...not just the earth. Interesting. bizi

I believe its possible for you to take both the lamictal and the topamax. I would really go about suggesting this to your doctor. Suggest it this way. The lamictal for depression and mood stabilization. The topamax at a low dose hopefully 50 to 100mg for migraines. I'm not sure how high of a dose of lamictal you take. But I do know of some kids that take both lamictal and topamax for seizures and migraines. Donna |

The other posters are right.
Keep the lamictal. It is working for you. Add the topamax for pain relief. The PCP can prescribe the topamax. I don't think that they interfere with each other. M. |

Thanks all................Went to the pool yesterday from 1pm to 4:30pm. I felt around 4pm it was time for me to go, it was 103 degree's. It's been a bit hotter around 110 or so.
![]() Came home, had an apple and some bottled water, laid down, wanted to doze off, the sun does me in, then boom, another headache/eye - left side of face and ear ache. Took another Imitrex, and Reglan for nausea, used my bed buddy, it's a eye pack that you can either use as cold if you put it in the freezer, or hot/warm for moist heat if you put it in the micro. Dr's recommend the moist heat. It works, got it at the pharmacy for $7.99 So, I put it in the micro, and rested a bit, it went away. ![]() Woke up later on and we ate. Woke up this morning and same thing, so I took an Imitrex and used the ear drops for pain, and now it has subsided. Wednesday I see my PCP at 7:45 AM, something has to be done, I can't take an Imitrex or 2 everyday, my God.....this isn't normal. Plus you only get 9 in a packet, with my co-pay of 30.00, maybe she will give me some samples, like she did last time of the other migraine meds. Dirk also got a headache when he got back from the pool. So he napped a bit and was fine. Everything is draining, I even sneezed yesterday a few times - woohoo!!!!!!! I don't know what a neurologist will do, if my PCP sends me that route. Do you?????????????????????????????????????????????? At least the headaches/ear/migraines whatever, seem to not last as long, which is some relief. I'm just down about this entire situation. It's been going on too damn long and interfering with my everyday life. I will take all of your advice as soon as I see my PCP on Wednesday morning. Hugs, Happy Sunday to all. Nikko ![]() Oh, p.s. for those who asked, I take 200mg of Lamictal for BP II mood stabilizer, and 60 mg of Cymbalta for depression. Along with klonapin for anxiety, and Trazadone for sleep. All from my p-doc. |

With the sneezing and stuff it sounds like the headaches might be sinus instead of migraine. Try getting a otc medicine that is specifically for sinus headaches, weird as it sounds. And take it just as your headache or earache is just starting to nag at you. THen with your moist thing for the ear lay down and see if the headache will go away if you try to sleep, turn on some soothing music too. Just give it a try, you could also just go ahead and take some for the try as to see if its a sinus headache. Donna |
