I think it is important to set your boundaries, know your limits.

I'm sorry you miss your friend. You must have been very close.

It seems like you and your husband have already gone out of you way to be kind to his family and maintain a connection. I think asking someone to get on a plane to attend an 18 year old non-relative's birthday party is a heck of a lot to ask. I agree with Bizi… you have to draw the line somewhere.

Kay,

Right, I feel like Hubby and I were helping them temporarily. But I also thought I was done when they moved across the country.
For now, I am ignoring FB. 'Maybe get back to her Sat with a gentle "no."

Hubby's high fat diet plan

Hubby is doing well eating low carb and high-ish fat.
We do not have a glucose monitor and we are not tracking carbs (because he
won't do it) and I certainly do not want to make this plan a big hassle for him,
so he weighs once a week as a way to know the plan is probably working.
After his initial water loss, he settled down to losing one pound a week for the past 5 or 6 weeks.

One of his new foods is coffee and half and half (or regular whipping cream) in the Nutribullet
I never drink coffee but he drinks it and this version seems to help him not crave the fruits and sweet snacks he used to eat.
Sometimes he adds Raw Organic Cacao Nibs to the half and half coffee.

This is what the manufacturer sent me in an email today for a recommendation
about the Cacao Nibs :
Quote:

our research indicates that that Raw, Organic Cacao contains 621 Antioxidants, which is some of the highest of any foods.
Another tip I have for you is to mix a little sea salt with some Cacao Nibs and then spread it on a flat surface such as a cutting board.
Then take a log of soft Goat’s cheese or Chevre and roll it on the Cacao Nibs to coat it. It makes a great appetizer.

That sounds delicious.

So glad that hubby is doing well.
Glad that he is letting you help him.
I love goat cheese!

I didn't think there was anything that could make coffee better, but maybe I should try cacao nibs in my coffee…

It is bizarre and we're the only country who does it… I wonder how does the rest of the world deal with us? I think it becomes more controversial every year.

Mari 03-13-2016 12:57 PM

Lots of countries used to do it and then stopped.

Countries that still do it include these:

I wonder if we'll ever stop doing it?

I kept saying things like, "It's 8 o'clock now, so is the real time 7 or 6?" My husband kept saying, "This is the real time now!" I used to get crossed up during daylight's savings before, but with the cognitive issues I really can't get my mind around it now. I think I understand it, but then it's gone…. I had my husband change the clocks that needed it. It's not worth thinking about.
