The receipt I have from when I moved in has a breakdown of charges. It says we paid $584 in prorated rent for moving in a little early, and on the line for "security deposit" it says we paid $500. I wrote a check, noted as #1199, for $1184… so maybe the extra $100 IS our security deposit, and they applied that $500 towards the cost of first month's rent or something? IDK, but $500 would really be helpful in offsetting the cost of any damages.
Last night before making dinner, I found a ROACH on the range hood I just bleached a couple of days ago. This morning, Rocky helped me catch a MOUSE in the kitchen. As you can imagine, I am NOT HAPPY, and the office will be hearing from me as soon as it opens!!! I hate this ****ing place! I am so happy we're moving! But I don't want to bring roaches with us… In the past, we had problems with a roach or two here and there because of a neighbor's problem, and when they finally sprayed, it took care of the problem. I'm going to ask them to just spray straight away. I don't want to mess around. Rocky had an absolute blast… you just can't buy cat toys that are as fun for them as live mice. Don't worry, I caught it before any real harm was done to it, and I set it free outside on the grass, far away from our patio. I have to double bleach the kitchen floor now because a rodent has been running all over it… disgusting. |
oh Heavens!
bizi |
I do not know which would be worse, rodents or roaches.
So glad I have not seen them for a while. UGH. Good luck, Kay M |
I called the office yesterday morning about the roach and mouse, and my call got directed to the "off-site leasing office." I have not had good luck with leaving messages with them in the past, and when I received an email notice from them about my maintenance request all it said was "Utility Closet/Misc."
I was not satisfied. I called back multiple times until I got a girl at our local office. I was very polite, but I wanted to make sure that they knew EXACTLY what had happened, and how concerned I was. About 5 minutes later, I got an email saying they had scheduled an appointment with pest control for July 11th. The email contained instructions including emptying all the cabinets in the kitchen and below the kitchen and bathroom sinks before they come, so it's like I'll be packing twice, but it's for a good cause, and it will give me the opportunity to clean inside the cabinets. The cats can stay as long as they are locked up in a bedroom. I want to be here when they come, because I want to make sure they SPRAY. I wanted to sweep and vacuum the cat room walls this morning, but it just wasn't realistic because there were too few hours this morning to keep the windows open. I chose to do laundry instead. I got lucky and got into the laundry room first this morning :) I never got to bleaching the kitchen floor yesterday. It's been bothering me, but I just couldn't go on and had to lay down for an early nap. As soon as my laundry is folded, I will be doing that today. I did not decrease my gabapentin back down to 300mg last week as I planned, but I did when I filled my pill case yesterday. Hopefully, I will have a little more energy and I won't be taking 4-6 hour naps as often. |
what a way to spend a birthday!

All I know is they're coming between 9am-4pm, so it's kinda hard to make plans. I have to leave for a couple of hours after they spray, so maybe I will take a trip to the nearby outlets. We're burning the last of our Yankee Candles now, and it would be nice to have some for our new apartment (without breaking the bank). It's going to be cool for several more hours, so I can keep the windows open for a while. I'm going to take advantage of this rare opportunity to finally sweep the walls in the cat room. Instead of moving crap into the middle of the room, and having to work around it, I'm going to move most of it out of there. I want to vacuum the walls, too. I don't want to skip that step because I think it will be very helpful, but I have to wait until my husband wakes up to do that… whenever that is. Once the dust clears, I will be free to wash the walls whenever I'm ready. It would be nice to have the window in there open when I do it, but it's not necessary. |
do you know both my aides don't even use my vacuum cleaner? lol- Marcia says she has asthma and I put the v.c. out for alicia the first day and she put it back in the closet.
I am not very assertive.I think you would be horrified. 75% Off Select Medium Candles – Yankee Candle |
I knew someone who hated the sound of them.
But you would think that out of the two of them, one could freaking vaccuum. M |
Kay,
You are busy. I hope things go your way today. M |
sweeping to walls sounds like alot of work.

I AM HORRIFIED!!! I was a home health aid, and I know it's their job to vacuum. Marcia knew it was part of the job when she took it (can you buy HEPA bags for your vacuum?). They should be doing it without asking or asking if you want it done. You shouldn't have to try to vacuum yourself or have to settle for a dirty rug! You are too easy… you're a softy  I'm nice, but I don't put up with **** like that. I haven't vacuumed the carpet in my living room for a while now, and it's driving me crazy! But since vacuuming the cat room after treating it, I feel like I need to take it apart and clean it so I don't contaminate the rest of the apartment. Once the cat room is done, I will vacuum it, then do that. The room will be filling up with boxes soon, but I think I will put a drop cloth down so the boxes don't smell like cat pee. The last time I went to the Yankee Candle outlet, I got 5 large candles for $40. You can't beat those prices. The cat room is pretty small, so sweeping the ceiling and walls was really quick and easy. I decided to wash one of the walls to see how things were going to go. I don't want to jinx myself, but it was SO MUCH EASIER than I thought it would be!!! The wall the cat boxes have been up against will not be so easy, and the vertical blinds above them are disgusting and will need to be dealt with. I've decided to leave all that for last… I should be able to finish up today, but if I run out of gas, there's always tomorrow morning. What's important is I can see light at the end of the tunnel… I'm finally going to be able to finish this ****ing project, which I don't think will destroy me, and move on. I can't wait!!! I couldn't smell any cat pee in the room while I was in there, or for hours afterwards, because I was cleaning with vinegar. I wish I had tried using that on the carpet instead of other things, but I'm not about to start a project like that again. I'm done with that ****. Meanwhile, my husband STILL hasn't taken out ANY furniture!!! I don't think there's a word that adequately describes my level of frustration… |
you know how I feel about your husband.....
heavy sigh glad that you see the end point yeah! bizi |

Of course I got in over my head again lol :roll eyes:
I didn't factor in the door on one wall, or the sliding closet doors on another, and as it turned out, they had to be washed by hand. I finished those two walls and the blinds, but not the last wall. I just couldn't do it. I can do it this morning. It shouldn't take me too long… famous last words. I'm going to put cleaning on hold for a bit while I start packing our non-essential clothing. I don't have a lot, but my husband has a TON. I think there will be a lot for donation. Meanwhile, there are other things he needs to sort through, so there will be a lot of garbage, but that garbage can sit in the cat room until he takes the ****ing furniture out! Right after I scooped out the litter boxes yesterday, one of the cats peed on the litter mat. I hadn't added anything to the litter, and I hadn't started cleaning, or to setting up to clean yet. I don't know what they're going to do when I really start packing, or when we move. My black light comes on Sunday (Amazon Prime). I think I'm going to be ****ing horrified by what I find here. The problem with using the black light to keep the new apartment clean is that it can only detect pee once it's dried and the stain is harder to remove. I have my first infusion of this round of Tysabri (the MS med) today at 2pm. I didn't make the appointment… it's not a good time for me because I'm usually sleeping. The infusion usually takes an hour, then they "watch" you for an hour afterwards. Maybe I can sleep there. IDK. |
yeah does happy dance that you are finished with the cat room!!!!!!
congratulations! (((((HUGS))))) bizi |
IT'S OFFICIAL: THE CAT ROOM IS DONE!!!
I need a little recovery time, but then it's onto packing clothing. And of course, I will be emptying all the kitchen cabinets on Tuesday for when the exterminators come, and some of that crap can be packed, too. After yesterday's activity, the infusion, and no nap, I was looking forward to sleeping in for a change, but... My husband woke me up at 5:30 this morning to tell me he overflowed the toilet, but had to go to work, so it was my problem to deal with. You all know I have some serious issues with OCD, so you can imagine what I was doing and how my morning went... :( I stopped by the realty office for the new place to see if I could nail down a move-in date, but was disappointed. I probably won't have a definitive answer until early next week. The assistant property manager did say they like to allow residents to move in on the weekends before the 1st if it falls on a weekday, but she still wasn't sure when the apartment would be ready. There is at least some HOPE that we won't be moving out/in under the gun, but it would be really nice to know when we are actually moving... big source of anxiety. |
congratulations-big hug-too bad corey had to add the finishing touch
love bobby |
KAY,
Congrats on the cat room! I hope you get your move in date soon. M |
Yesterday I wasn't able to wash the bath mats or Corey's slippers, which I wore during the dirty part of the cleaning process (his s***, his slippers), because I had an appointment to get my hair cut at 9am. I guess I will have to try to get into the laundry room to do that today, but it's very busy on weekends. I HAVE to be OKAY with just washing them because I don't know what color the new bathroom is yet, and don't want to waste a lot of money buying things that won't match. Our current bathroom, for example, has a blue tub and blue tiles.
I need to see the apartment before I can buy other things, too... The guy in our new apt. moves out on Tuesday and the lady in the office said she could bring me over there to look at it some time next week. I hope we can find a time when Corey will be able to come too, but his work schedule is unpredictable. I could say "after 3," but I don't know how well that would go over with her, or have to gamble on a time hoping he can somehow free himself up earlier than normal. I bought a carrier off Chewy.com yesterday. I hope the fat kitties fit in it. They were getting impatient with me trying to repeatedly position and measure them with the ruler lol. I still have time to buy a bigger one and send this one back if it's too small, but I think it's the same size as the other one. I've been up since 4:30am. I want to shoot the ****ing birds outside my bedroom window... they get going around 3:30, and I swear there's a million of them. I have soooo many things to do today, and wish I could make use of all this extra time, but I have to be quiet because everyone else is sleeping... |
congratulations again on getting the cat room done!!!!!!

Kay,
I can relate to the birds. I remember one time when I reached out trying to grab a branch close to my window and shake it. Didn't help. Good luck with your new apartment. Moving is so much work; but once it's done there will be a good feeling of relief. Gerry |
That's funny, Gerry :)
I was up at the same ungodly time again this morning. I'm going to start wearing earplugs!!! I went to the supermarket on Saturday and it was a zoo, as it always is on the weekend. When it gets like that, I often put my cart off to the side and walk off with my "cane" so I can get to the things I need more easily, but... I fell because some ***** ran me over with her cart! I was really lucky I wasn't seriously hurt, and was able to get up on my own. There was a big to-do... lots of nice people trying to "help." The assistant store manager wanted to call the EMT's (that's their policy), but I did a lot of singing and dancing to convince him not to, and just signed a form saying I refused medical treatment. The whole thing was ****ing embarrassing and I was shaken up. But when the dust cleared, I went back to my cart, picked up bread, cookies, and an ice cream cake (I buy one every year for our birthdays/anniversary), and paid for my groceries LOL... there was NO ****ING WAY I was going through all of that for nothing. They had a kid help me put the groceries in my trunk. I'm still sore and have bruises on various areas on my right side, but I'm okay. I was very lucky. I haven't been out since, but I know I'll have confidence issues when I do. And I will definitely be more careful from now on. Not that it was my fault... she hit me in my backside. So, we didn't end up going out yesterday to celebrate our birthdays and (10th) anniversary. I'm disappointed, but neither one of us felt up to it. I never got around to doing laundry or packing anything this weekend either. I think the universe is conspiring against me with all these delays. I have to take my husband to the DMV this morning because he let his license expire. I hope to get that laundry done when I get home. I also have to start emptying out the cabinets to prepare for the exterminators' visit tomorrow, but I can't do it all until tonight/tomorrow morning. Some of it can stay packed up, but a lot of it will have to go back in the cabinets. |
oh wow...you are the energizer bunny that keeps on going and goiing but through more and more obstacles. You are incredible
much love and awe bobby and blessings |

I'm so glad you didn't get really hurt. Like broken bones type. That is what would have happened to me. I'm glad you could turn down the ambulance ride too. Donna :grouphug: |

How awful. Glad that you were not seriously hurt. You did not need that at all. I am hoping you have a nice birthday tomorrow. (((((HUGS))))) bizi |
Kay,
That's too bad; falling along with "ouch" is embarrassing. I wasn't as fortunate as you when I was at Portillos. A man pulled his chair out just as I was passing by and my cane got caught....down I went. With my PN, as well as other issues; couldn't get up on my own. My husband and son each picked me up under my arms. I wasn't hurt but too late to stop the manager from calling 911. The Firemen, ambulance, etc. all came marching in. Embarrassing to say the least. Of course; I pleaded with them and was finally able to convince them I did't need to go to the ER. Hope you're feeling better; what a way to spend your birthdays/anniversary. But at least you went home with an ice cream cake....yummy!!!!! Gerry |
KAY,
I am so sorry about the fall. Are you still kind of bruised afterwards? Feeling shook up? It's good that the grocery store people were helpful.:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug: Mari |
I am lucky I didn't break my right arm because I use a "closed" cuff for my forearm crutch, but there is a little V-shaped slit in the front, and my skinny little arm slipped through it... maybe that's why that slit's there. I was able to pull myself up by holding onto a display of crap that was in the middle of the aisle.
I fall pretty often, but I've been very, very lucky. I may have had some mild concussions, but the last time I had a really significant injury was in 2015 when I knocked out my front teeth on the toilet seat because my legs went out on me. Maybe I haven't broken any bones because they are strong because I'm "only" 37 today. I'm all bruised on my right side, and am still pretty sore. I rested for the remainder of the weekend, but I have/have had too much to do to really nurse my wounds. I was very busy yesterday. It's crunch time... I woke up to cat puke this morning, and as soon as I cleaned it up, Rocky puked all over the floor again... my birthday presents I guess. I just bought a bag of Blue Buffalo anti-hairball food. I was using the sensitive systems stuff before. I hope this food works out better. I'm slowly switching them over. We haven't been feeding them any people food for months now. I spent over 2 hours this morning finishing emptying the kitchen cabinets and the cupboards under the sinks because I'm waiting for pest control to come... somewhere between 9am-4pm... UGH. The kitties have been locked in the bedroom since 8:30, and they are NOT happy about it (they're scratching at the door, sticking their paws out under it, and crying :(). I'm showered, dressed, and ready to go because I'll have to leave the apartment for a while when the guys get here, but I want to be here when they come because I want to make sure they DO SPRAY, not just put out bait. I'm going to go to the Yankee Candle outlet to kill time and buy some candles for the new apartment :) I hope they come soon because it's already 11, and I don't do well in the afternoon, especially if I'm out. I also did a lot this morning... I plan on cleaning the inside of the cabinets before I put the things I'm not ready to pack, and there's a lot, back in there. I'm not cooking tonight and don't need any of it, so I think I'll put that whole business off until tomorrow. I'm going to need a nap when I get home, and I know I won't feel like dealing with it. |
Oh Kay; I'm so sorry you got bruised up pretty bad. Thankful nothing broken. You mentioned having some pretty nasty falls before.
With so much to do, glad you are putting everything off until tomorrow. You really need to get some rest. Take care. Gerry |
I am sorry you knocked out your front teeth....ouch!

I didn't have a happy birthday, but it was my 37th, not my 7th, so it's okay. And today is a new day, hopefully a better one.
The exterminator didn't come until after noon, and he was here for over 1/2 hour. He didn't find any evidence of pest activity, but he sprayed everything and put out pet-friendly traps for mice and roaches. This guy is from a new company. He said I could put everything back once the spray dried, but I can't use any cleansers anywhere he sprayed because it would render the treatments ineffective (contrary to the other co). It makes sense, but I wish I knew that before he came. There are some areas I will be cleaning regardless. He's coming back in two weeks. I was ready for a nap before I even went out, but I did drive to the outlets to get my candles. I didn't get back until after 3, and never got a nap, so I was grumpy and felt like ****. I had thrown a few things out and packed a few things up, but I put almost everything back in the cabinets once I got home because I couldn't stand having it all in the living room. We had pizza for dinner after we sent the first one back because they made it wrong and the cheese slid off half of it. Then it made both of us sick. lol. Fortunately, I got to enjoy a piece of ice cream cake before that happened :) The tenant in our apartment was due to vacate it yesterday. Hopefully maintenance had an opportunity to get a good look at it to see what needs to be done, so we can find out SOON when we can move in, and I can get a look at it. Corey is working 2 hours away today and tomorrow, and has no idea what he is doing Friday. He probably won't get a chance to see the apartment with me. We're going to have to go and sign the lease at some point, so he'll have to make arrangements with his boss so he can do that. My father never called me on my birthday, but I got a call from a woman on my cell phone in regards to his/his wife's BMW. There's no reason for the association, but this isn't the first call like that. I'll ask him about it, but he can be super sketchy. I should have prodded the woman for more information. I gave her my father's phone number. I think I should check my credit report. |
pizza is great for a birthday dinner and ice cream cake tops it. No bug activity interesting. I wonder if the word got out lol.
two hours and two hours simply awful and with back problems. new apartment-wow- I hope no more headaches. love bobby |
I hope you have a good day. sorry your dad did not call you.
