Enjoy the veggies, Kay.
The phone companies make things complicated on purpose. M |
I sure understand about cell phones. Mine has worked off and on for
the last week I think. I would go to take it in and it would work for that little time I was in town. Then when I either got home and could not go. Or I'd forget it was not working again in town. And just not go. So yesterday after taking Derrick to get his meds, and also to Occupational Therapy. I went to get my phone fixed. It still wasn't working, so I thought okay I can now get it fixed. The idiot guy working on it. Tried calling it 4 times, then took it apart. Still nothing. Then he informed me since my name wasn't on the phone to do things, which it has been since we got the original plan many years ago. And was re put on not too many years ago. I got frustrated. Reminded him I live in Oxford, have no phone to call my husband and left. So I still have no cell phone. I did use Derrick's phone to call the hubby. But something happened to him at work and he worked way late. Donna :grouphug: |
My husband's name is on the account, but I always dealt with it, and made sure I was authorized to make changes. I did it through the internet, but your husband can call customer service and have your name added so you can make decisions. You're obviously going to need a new phone, and I hope you can get one soon :hug::hug:
|
Kay
That's the problem we have had me added more than once. I think they hubby took my phone today. They will definitely get a earful from him. We will see what else he does. Chance I will be changing companies. Donna :grouphug: |
Donna, I wouldn't blame you for changing companies at all. Your problem should have been fixed the first time around. I'm glad your husband is taking care of things for you. You shouldn't be without a reliable cellphone.
I vacuumed, and I cleaned the sink, toilet, and swiftered the bathroom floor yesterday... too much for me... There was nothing left in the tank for cooking, so we had to order out, and obviously didn't have a South Beach dinner. My husband won't have time for meals today because of all the driving he will be doing and the job he will be on, so I only had to pack him some snacks, and that didn't take much time or energy. My normal Thursday routine is stopping off at a local convenience store/Dunkin Donuts to play the lottery and get an iced coffee. I'm also going to have to go buy cigarettes and go grocery shopping (my favorite). I've managed to put the laundry off until Friday again. I don't know what my problem is with the laundry lately. It's really not that big of a deal. I'm amazed at how well the Feliway is working... my cats are scratching the scratching posts, but still not scratching the furniture :) |
that is so great about the cats!
|
My hubby had to work late again. He did call me and let me know he was
still there. And had my phone which I had already figured. Because of lateness with him coming home, I'm still with same company just not the same phone. We will see what happens. Next time I have problems I'll just be him. Since Dale can be a woman too. Donna :grouphug: |
hi kay, wondering how you are doing?
(((((HUGS)))) love you bizi |
I love you too Bizi
Donna, Dale can be a "woman" sometimes? lol. It's definitely a stereotype because unless I'm hanging over the edge of a cliff, I have to handle all that kind of business myself or use a very potent and strong power of suggestion to get him to do it :) I was fishing around in our online banking account, and found a $40 discrepancy between our past two cable bills. I'm going to have to call to figure out why there was such a difference. It's something else that my husband didn't pick up on... I'm glad I fired him from the accounting department. BTW he took that news well. I'm doing okay. I wiped myself out from cleaning Wednesday, and have been struggling to get things done the last couple of days. I did play the lottery on Thursday and went food shopping because I absolutely had to. Laundry was a must yesterday, and I had two more errands to run... It's crazy that that little bit of cleaning can take such a toll on me, but whatever, I guess I'm just going to have to keep making adjustments. The Pats play the Pittsburgh Steelers for the AFC Divisional Title tomorrow (on CBS at 6:30pm) and I'm very excited!!! Unfortunately, I'm going to miss some of the game because I'll cooking tho. I've decided to make strip steak and frozen sugar snap peas, so I won't have to spend too much time in the kitchen. If anyone is interested, the Green Bay Packers are playing the Atlanta Falcons for the NFC Title at 3pm on Fox. |
Cleaning is exhausting!
sorry it effects you so much. I am happy that you found the error. I just got my new visa card (I discovered fraud on my last statement)....I really missed it this week. I don't like having to pay in cash. I know that you will enjoy your pats playing is this the final game before the superbowl? bizi |
I lost over 5 pounds in my first week on my diet. My husband actually lost 3 pounds despite all his drinking. Unfortunately while I was out yesterday there was a pizza place next door, all I could smell was pizza, and I couldn't shake the craving for it, so we ended up ordering one for dinner and I ate half of it! I won't weight myself for a few days because I'm already bloated, and all the sodium I ingested last night will only add to that… I'm going to have to flush all that salt out with water. I've been weak and naughty… but back to the diet this morning.
I made a quick trip out yesterday, it was only for about 15 minutes, but I was in particularly bad shape. I was much worse off than Thursday, which was the day following the cleaning. I could have been having a bad day, but there's a possibility I have a respiratory infection because of all the coughing and shortness of breath. Infections can worsen MS symptoms. My temp this morning was only 99.6F, but I'll check it a couple more times today. I downloaded my tax software a couple of days ago, and since I think all my documents have arrived, I started working on my return. We should be getting a refund, but it's not as much as I would have liked. For some reason, I can't download my state program even though I paid for it because H&R Block says it's "not ready yet"…. very frustrating! I'm going to wait to file anyway because there will be an update to the Federal return software on the 26th, and I want to be absolutely sure I won't be surprised by any other documents arriving in the mail. I hope the Pats win, and win big tonight!!! Another Super Bowl opportunity would be nice… very excited about the game!!! :):):) |
congratulations on the weight loss!
I wish my weight would come off sooner but it did not come on over night so....it is foolish to think it will come off easily. I discovered wine has only 4 carbs for a 5 oz glass.:) We went to a play last night. Had not done that is quite a while. Enjoyed it very much so! have a great day kay! enjoy your pats!!!! bizi |
:grouphug:Watching pats also. Enjoyed the first half. They are looking pretty good.
I hope you continue to lose. Donna :grouphug: |
I watched the last half of the Falcons vs. Packers game... total blow-out.
And of course I watched the Pats game, too!!! It was a good game, and an impressive win!!! I'm very excited to see them heading to another Super Bowl, but the Falcons will be a very tough team to beat, and it will be one hell of a game!!! I can't wait!!! 1/2 pizza... gained 1/2lb. I probably should have waited to weigh myself. I also haven't gone to the BR in a week. I'm so tired of this ****, or lack of it. I'm going to have to take mag. citrate again. My gastroenterologist wants me to take 2 bottles of it twice a week in addition to everything else I take (that doesn't work), but I only do it once a week because it makes me so nauseous after I drink it, it's such a turnoff. My temp was normal for the rest of the day yesterday, so I don't think I have an infection. I think I've just been having some bad days because of the MS (and overdoing it). Sometimes there's just no other reason for it. |
I am happy that the Pats one and that you can look forward to the Super Bowl.

Thank you, Mari :) |
I broke the garbage disposal last night by throwing the remainders of cooked broccoli down there. I can't believe that was enough to do it... The water in the sink isn't draining normally now, but I think that's normal if you break the disposal? I'm not thrilled because it's another hassle, but I guess maintenance can fix the faucet that's leaking at the base (for the 4th time) while they are here. I've been putting dish towels back there since it started leaking again because I got tired of calling.
It was really ****ty out yesterday. It was snowing all morning and most of the afternoon, but nothing was sticking to the roadways or walkways, so I did go out to run an errand. After a brief respite, it started snowing again last night, and we're expecting a mix of rain/freezing rain/snow and high winds straight through to tomorrow morning. I have a doctor's appointment I just can't miss at 9am today. It normally takes me about 15 minutes to get there, but I'll probably head out at 8 because I'll have to clean off my car and will have to deal with rush hour traffic in less than ideal road conditions... really looking forward to all that. |
Take care on the roads today, Kay.
Be safe. M |
be safe kay, sorry for your plumbing issues, not what you need!
(((((HUGS))))) bizi |
Going out yesterday was not the best idea I've ever had, but I really did have to go out.
At 8am, the stairs and the walkway here were still not shoveled (!!!), so it was rough going just getting to my car, which I had a hell of a time cleaning off. I'm glad I left early because there was a lot of traffic and there were a lot of ***holes on the road. I just made my appointment. I had a terrible time trying to walk from the garage to the medical building, from the medical building to the hospital, and back to the garage from the hospital. I wasn't going very far (by normal people's standards), but the sidewalks and street crossings weren't in good condition, and it was still snowing and very windy. By the time I got home (3 1/2 hours later), I was ready to go to bed, but I had to deal with maintenance, and then the plumber being here. I finally got to sleep for a little while about four hours later, but wasn't up to cooking when I got up and we ordered out again, so I broke my diet again. I weighed myself this morning, and was very happy that didn't gain any more weight though. I'd love to hang around in my P.J's all day because I feel like ****, but I have to get in the shower soon because I'm expecting the kid from maintenance to come by sometime this morning to fix the faucet (the disposal is fixed), and I have another appointment at 11am. At least it's already above freezing and it's not snowing or raining anymore. |
oh I am glad that it stopped snowing, if it is above freezing then myabe could melt?
((((HUGS))))) You are a trooper. bizi |
:hug:Have I ever told you guys I HATE WINTER?
Well I sure do. I like spring and fall weather. So looking for the good weather. Donna :grouphug: |

I feel EXACTLY the same way Donna. I know we both have particular trouble with ice and the heat. |
Every road and almost every parking lot was completely bare by the time I went out yesterday, but there's a mini ice chunk/snow bank that runs partway through my parking spot because the car next to me never cleared off their car or moved it for the plow. It's on the passenger side of my car, and therefore their problem to deal with- not mine. It's supposed to be about 50 degrees out today with rain possible in the afternoon. Maybe they will get lucky and all, or most of it, will melt.
Today is my weekly lottery/Dunkin Donuts day. Since I've been dealing with more than my share unpleasant things so far this week, I bought coffee and cigarettes yesterday so I wouldn't have to do anything else. I should be doing laundry, but I've developed a strange aversion to doing it lately, and now I'm probably going to end up having to do a couple of loads before food shopping tomorrow, which isn't ideal. I planned on making pork tenderloin for dinner last night. Even though the expiration date was 2/2, and it was vacuum sealed, it was rancid when I opened it. Since everything else was frozen, the only thing with any protein I had on hand instead was whole grain pasta, which is a NOT a diet-friendly food. I tossed it with vegetable broth, fresh garlic, and olive oil. I kept the portions small, and served it with spinach on the side. Come Sunday we will have been on stage one of South Beach for the recommended 2 weeks, but last night was our mutual third cheat. I'm fairly certain that my husband has been cheating more often. When I got home from my appointment I could tell that someone from maintenance had been by to "fix" the faucet, but it's leaking worse now. That was at least the 4th time they "fixed" it. I think that replacing the fixture would help (and I have told them that), but they are resisting doing that for some reason. I'm going to have to call and request another work order, but I'm not going to do it until I've had my shower. I'm not going to be rushed or inconvenienced today if I can help it. |
I hope that you have had a nice shower and that the maintenance men were able to fix your faucet satisfactorily.
bizi |
I got my laundry in early, and I could potentially get my food shopping out of the way if I don't drag ***, but I'm waiting for a phone call to my land line, and I don't like the idea of going out unless/until I get it. Maybe I can forward calls to my cellphone? I will look into that.
I called about the faucet again and got a girl from the "off-site leasing office." She put in a work order, but the copy that was emailed to me had my apartment number, but no building number on it. Between that, and the fact that they were just here the day before and may think it's a duplicate request, I don't know if maintenance will come again or not. **** it, if they don't come soon, I'll just call again. In the meantime, I'll just keep putting kitchen towels back there to absorb the leakage. I've lost (and kept off) just over 7lbs so far dieting. Saturday will be 2 weeks on the diet, phase 1. My husband and I decided to hold off on going to phase 2, at least until I go food shopping next Thursday, because of the cheating. So that will be 18 days vs. 14... I have gone longer. I really should get into the shower now in case maintenance actually comes and catches me in there later, but I have laundry to fold and it will get wrinkly if I wait. What a pain in the ***. |
you sound busy...rest today.
(((HUGS)))) bizi |
Yesterday morning, I bent down to get something and my vision got blurry and I got dizzy... and it kept happening everytime I looked down or bent over.
Where a typical person might just be concerned, I ****ing panicked because 1) I have MS which can cause a condition called optic neuritis which can cause severe vision problems and 2) I'm back on lithium (in a small dose), which caused me significant vision problems in the past I also considered it may be a sinus infection because I have been feeling ****ty and I had pain behind my eyes (also a sx of optic neuritis tho). I calmed down enough to decide that it was most important to rule out optic neuritis so if it was that I could get treatment ASAP. My eye doctor squeezed me in, and was able to rule it out. By that time, I was feeling worse, and he told me he thought I just had a really bad sinus infection. I called my PCP and he called in antibiotics for me. If I had just waited instead of freaking out and running out to the eye doctor, it would have become clear to me within a couple of hours that it was a sinus infection... a really, really bad one. I feel like total ****. I really should not have driven to the eye doctor. So, no food shopping for me yesterday. It has to be done today though. I will either have to whittle my list down so my husband will go with me, or he will have to drop me off and pick me up. I also have to get the antibiotics, too. |
Wow, the sinus infection came on fast.
scary glad it was not the ms symptom! sorry from the head ache. take care of yourself. (((((HUGS)))) love bizi |
I had been feeling shitty, so I guess the sinus infection didn't really come on that fast, but apparently it was worse enough by Friday for those symptoms to appear. I probably would have put two and two together if I wasn't so deathly afraid of losing my vision. In addition to the vision problems I had while I was on lithium, I spent over a month damn near blind in both eyes while I was on Depakote. So, I panicked and got tunnel vision.
I'm still trying to do stage 1 of the South Beach diet, and my husband says he is, but he's really not. For example: after eating the soup I made for dinner last night, he polished off 1/2 sleeve of Ritz crackers with spray cheese... not really consistent with the rules of the diet. I don't mind preparing SB dinners for the two of us, but I think he'd have more success with a more conventional diet, if at all, and making the meals I send off to work with him would be much easier. He's lost 2lbs since we started the diet, and has never been down any more than 3lbs. I've kept 7lbs off, which is a lot for 2 weeks, but I probably would have lost more had I not been cheating. I will probably finish out at least the full third week on stage 1. |
congratulations on the 7 pounds!
I think I might be starting to get cateracts....my sight is not as good as it used to be. sigh bizi |
I'm starting to get cataracts at 36. My eye doctor says everyone starts to get them as they age. He said it's very important to protect your eyes from the sun so they don't get worse.
I need to get a new pair of glasses... I should have bought a new pair about 3 years ago. I'm due for an exam in April. I looked at frames while I was waiting for the eye doctor on Friday and didn't find anything that interested me. So I guess I'll have to look elsewhere. |
I don't think Rocky is feeling well because he's not eating like a pig as soon as I put the food down like usual, and there was a lot of food left in the dish last night and this morning when I went to feed them. I did see him eat a little this morning though. I scooped the box out this morning, and everything was normal... same amount and type of pee and poops for all. He was very sociable last night, and affectionate with me this morning, so I don't know what's going on. I'll give the cats some Greenie's treats later and see if he can eat them... maybe his teeth hurt. He's 11 now?
My husband was talking about his bread cravings last night, so I saw my opening to offer him a more conventional diet, and he went for it. He knows he's only going to get whole grain bread, but he's still into it. I made him a turkey bacon BLT on a whole wheat pita for lunch today, and I'm sure he'll find it a nice change of pace from all the salads he's been getting. I have an early appointment tomorrow, and will probably do food shopping afterwards. I'm going to try to make his change of diet an "add-to" situation, rather than a whole different animal, so shopping and cooking will be easier for me. |
i hope he is eating now. of course you know about nutrical which Pudge wouldn't toouch this time, My friend yesterdy told me there is a cat flu going around. 450 cats have been infected or something like that. I am also putting pedialyte in their water.
How big a screen> |
it is good to keep an eye on your kitties, our fur babies!
((((HUGS)))) bizi |
Yesterday I gave Rocky and Buddy a couple of little pieces of turkey bacon in the morning and 2 Greenies each in the afternoon, and Rocky was chewing like normal. He was at the food bowl a lot yesterday, and by the time I went to feed them last night the bowl was empty, so I think he's over whatever was plaguing him. I'm very relieved :)
It started snowing late yesterday afternoon, and it snowed all night, but the snow is tapering off now. We only got 2-3 inches though (?). I have an early MD appointment at 8:30 this morning and will have to clean off my car, battle rush hour traffic, and trudge through some snow/slush to get there. I know that the steps and walkway here will not be clear by the time I leave, and that worries me. I had to deal with the same **** last week, but there was a lot more snow. I planned on going food shopping after my appointment, but it's going to have to wait until at least the afternoon, or possibly tomorrow. I'm sure the roads are clear by now, but the parking lots are probably a mess. I weighed myself this morning, and for the first time in a long time, I'm in the 140's (barely) at 149.8lbs, so I've lost 8.2lbs :) I'm a little surprised since I got into the chocolate chips I use for baking cookies last night. I remembered they were there, and I could not help myself lol. I will have to resist getting a donut when I drive through to get my coffee this morning... so hard. |
Kay you are doing so well! congratulations for getting back into the 40's!!!!!!!!
whew! I can't wait till I am there with you. I don't need to tell you to be safe because I know that you will be careful. let the safety angels be with you today. (((((HUGS)))) bizi |
so thrilled about rocky! yea
love bobby |
I had trouble with the walkway here yesterday morning, but my car was easy to clean off, the roads were clear, and traffic wasn't heavy. I arrived at my appointment 20 minutes early, which is fine by me.
I did get a donut. I never should have eaten those chocolate chips. I shot myself in the foot... eating something sugary only causes more sugar cravings. I won't gain weight because of the donut, but I probably won't lose any/much either for the next few days because of it. I didn't go food shopping yesterday because once I got home I had no motivation to go back out. I will have to go today though. My list is really long, so I'm going to cut it down, and plan on going shopping earlier next week. I should go to PetSmart to buy the cat food and litter, but I may just buy it at the grocery store because I don't know if I'm up for the trip today. I go through a lot of coffee. The grocery store I go to sells the K-Cups I use for a really good price that's hard to match or beat online, but I caught a sale yesterday and bought 144 of them and saved about $20. It seemed like a lot of money up front, but it makes sense given how much coffee I drink. I forgot to tell you guys I finally got a new faucet in the kitchen!!! It took 5 calls to maintenance because the old one was constantly leaking to get it, but I finally got it. Now they can come fix the stove because the burners still keep going out on me, but they've only been here 3 times to fix those, so I guess it will be a while before that problem is taken care of. |
no one doughnut will not kill your dieting efforts.
Don't they actually say one cheat day here and there helps??? I am glad that you outing to your appointment got you there early. Yea! you got a new faucet!!! Now you can keep calling about your stove. You should not have to call 5 times, but if that is what it takes then make those calls, put your complaints in writing! (((((HUGS))))) bizi |
