Default vitamins

I have had issues with mild depression. I've mentioned it here and there on NeuroTalk. I've had freakishly good luck with vitamin therapy...D3 and the B's. I recognize that this is a very fortunate thing.
Our close relative has Bipolar Disorder. She is adopted...not blood related.
I have thought of giving her low doses of Vitamin D and a B Complex (surely they are out there someone) and suggesting she try them if she finds herself depressed to see if it helps her.
Maybe just take it for 3-5 days. I just don't know.
Has anyone experimented with something like this?
Is it likely to cause a manic episode?
Is it a relatively safe thing to do?
Does anyone take these vitamins regularly? Did it cause any issues at all for you?
Thank you.
