I'm okay, but I'm a mess.

I went to PT today and the therapist said it can take over a week to recover from a concussion. She said if I stop improving, or get worse, I should see my doctor.

My PCP retired and I have a new one from the same practice. I have to call the office to deal with referrals... I can't get my s*** together tho.

Kay

Honestly if you have post concussion from an concussion it really
is hard to get back to understanding things. I still have problems
after all mine. Its going to be years.

Kay,
I missed somewhere that you had a concussion.

Glad you saw the PT and have the option to see your MD.

I'm sorry you have had so many concussions and are still struggling with the after effects, Donna. This is no fun.:hug::hug:

I've had a couple of good night's sleep, a couple of 3+ hour naps, and have been taking it easy, so I'm pretty sure that most of my confusion/disorientation and other symptoms right now are from the concussion. I've had several, but this is the worst one I've ever had, and I'm having some symptoms I've never had before. The fatigue was just making matters worse. At least I'm better than I was a week ago. I really hope that things get better soon.

There's really nothing that a doctor can do for me. I'm past the point of real danger. I just need to rest, take Tylenol for my headache, and try to avoid or limit things that require too much thinking and/or concentration for a while. I've been on and off the computer for about 3 hours writing this.

I feel badly for not being able to keep up with how everyone has been doing for so long, but I can't read through all the threads yet. If you need/want me, you can PM me. I think I can handle that.

It's 20 degrees out right now, which is the warmest it's been in weeks, but we're going to get hit by that "bomb cyclone," and are going to get 12-16" of snow and 25-35 MPH winds, with gusts potentially over 50 MPH. Corey's working today and driving around in this mess. I hope they didn't send him out on a job too far away... I'm afraid to call him in case he is driving.

Dmom3005 01-04-2018 05:44 PM

The number of times I've had problems with hitting my head.

Is why I've said, more than once I've caused some of my own
problems. Like the time I went to sit down and hit my head
on a cabinet at a hotel. I was at a conference. But I didn't
let the fire department send me to the hospital because I
wasn't sure how I'd get back. Even though I was working
with almost all my co-workers. One would have got me.

But I drove home the next day, and knew I should have
gone to hospital and called for a ride home. Even with a
car there. Its one of the times I got lucky when driving.
I figured out I definitely would be driving in such situations.

I pulled a big sign down at a place like MCL when I worked there
too. Now that one I drove myself to the hospital. But tried
to work the next day, but couldn't work for a week, because I
had whiplash.

Donna, I remember you have said in the past that you think the problems you have from the concussions are your fault, but they are not. Usually all they do if you go to the hospital for a concussion is observe you overnight... if they don't just send you home. Have you asked your neuro if there is any way to help your symptoms now?:hug::hug:

All my previous concussions are from falls resulting in bumps to the back or sides of my head. I hit the top of my head this time. The PT said that the symptoms from this concussion could be worse because of all the ones I've had in the past.

I woke up this morning without the unnerving "feeling of unreality" that I've been experiencing, and I hope that the disorientation in general is better/gets better. Hopefully the rest of my symptoms improve soon, too.

I don't know how much snow we got yesterday, but it was at least a foot, and the wind was WILD!!! I can't believe we didn't lose power, but I'm thankful that we didn't.
Corey actually dug my car out for me and moved it this morning before he went to work. Unfortunately, the only open spot he could find was way across the parking lot, and I'm afraid I'm going to fall walking over there to get it once my spot is cleared. The plow guys here are horrible... so that may be quite a while.

I'm going to try to at least read some threads today to get caught up.
